Mean Mince, Mutiara Damansara
Mean Mince in Mutiara Damansara is the latest burger joint to hit the scene in PJ/KL. You must be wondering, don’t we have enough burgers by now? That’s what we thought, too.
But truly, after giving it a second and third thought, is there such a thing as “too much” when it comes to burgers? More options means we get to be more discerning (and fussy) with our burgers!
And discerning we were, when we got to Mean Mince. We were served with a nice big tin cup of popcorn - which is a nice snack to munch on while you browse through the artsy menu. We really love the design of their black and white menu with quirky graphics to depict their offerings.
We got Min, one of the founders of the place, to decide what we should eat for our meal, and we were not disappointed! He started off by serving us the side dishes, which includes the ever-popular mozzarella sticks (RM13.90), onion rings (RM7.90) and jalapeño poppers (RM14.90 - something that isn’t easy to find in KL)!
The Mean Mince menu is straightforward and will help indecisive people like myself choose what I want to eat without pondering too long. In fact, you might be tempted to order everything on the menu (and we encourage you to), so bring lots of friends along to try this place out.
You can’t go wrong with their classic MM Burger (RM18.90), which also comes in a DEEP FRIED version (pic below). This burger is packed with a juicy patty, melted cheese, a sunny side up (overeasy) and mustard mayo. The brioche bun is scarily addictive. Even those who don’t quite fancy eating burger buns will be tempted to scarf this one down.
If you’re not a big beef fan, then the Monster Buffalo Chicken Burger (RM20.90) is your go-to choice. But like its name suggest, its a HUGE burger to have on your own - so we would recommend you share this with a buddy.
But if you’re a small eater, then you will want to go for the sliders (RM19.90). This was easily my favourite thing from the mains. Each slider’s concept is simple - a juicy mini patty. One comes with mustard mayo, another with caramelised onions and the last with pickled red onions. All three won me over.
The superstar of the night, though, was the Deep fried MM burger (RM18.90). This superb burger is everything you want in a burger. No brioche bun, just that sinful layer of dough deep fried to perfection, cut open to reveal the juiciest burger with caramelised onions and lots of cheese!
If that meal wasn’t sinful enough for you, you have to try their churros (RM6.90) served with chocolate sauce. It’s the best churros you will have in Malaysia, hands down. You’ve got to try it to believe it!
Of course, pair your entire meal with their classic milkshakes - peanut butter, banana or vanilla (RM12, RM11 and RM10).
