Joy St, Bangsar
Hipster cafes, local mamak restaurants and entertaining bars. The Bangsar we know today has become a prominent place for popular eateries, making it an ideal spot to hang out with good company. Now, if you, like me, enjoy catching up with friends over some good desserts, there is a joyful shop in mind that I would love to introduce you to — Joy St!
Joy St is a happy gelato shop that cheerfully calls out to all sweet tooth alike. Tucked in the busy streets of Bangsar, the shop started when dynamic duo, Brian and Kuan Lin, decided to embark on an entrepreneurship journey together to bring joy to the world. And joy they had brought us when we had the privilege to taste some of their favourite flavours in store.

Ever since Joy St opened their doors to the public on 1 July 2017, they have won over many "sweet" hearts with great gelato flavours like Rum & Raisin, Earl Grey and Pistachio, as well as their 99% fat-free sorbets, which includes flavours like Watermelon Lychee and Avocado Mango. This is evident on their Facebook page with several 5-star reviews from their happy customers. We couldn't agree better as we absolutely love the creative variety and combination of fantastic flavours in those delicious colours!

What we also like about Joy St is the warm and cosy environment they provide for their patrons. Their simple setting not only welcomes you with good vibes but also doubles up as a good place for family and friends to literally chill with good ice-cream over good conversations.

Furthermore, you will find parts of the shop to be quite Instagram-able and Pinterest-worthy. Yes, you can take advantage of their well-decorated place to take your OOTD or POTD here.

Some time in mid-November last year, Joy St introduced five brand new flavours to their menu - Kinder Bueno, Black Forest, Matcha Passion Fruit, Whiskey Caramel and Two-A-Day

It didn't take long for me to decide that Whiskey Caramel was my favourite among all. A spoonful of it burst a rich whiskey flavour that melted so heavenly in my mouth. The caramel taste wasn't too sweet for me and though alcohol is not a flavour I fancy, I must say this is a must-try.
Chocolate addicts would rejoice over the smooth, creamy white chocolate kinder bueno flavour while green tea lovers can opt for the Matcha Passion Fruit that was combined quite pleasantly well on the palate.
I also found the black forest one to be a very interesting choice of gelato flavour as it was my first time tasting a cake flavour in form of an ice-cream. If your favourite fruits are apples and grapes then you will like Two-A-Day for a healthy dose of refreshing flavours.
For those days that you want to treat yourself or crave for something sweet, or even days that you just want to beat the hot sunny weather, Joy St is where you want to be for some homemade gelato goodness.
