Foret Blanc, Sri Petaling

This is actually foodievstheworld’s second time to Foret Blanc. The first time we visited, we enjoyed it very much for its whimsical desserts and flawless execution.

So of course, we were delighted to be able to try three new desserts from Foret Blanc — the Deconstructed Pavlova, the Breakfast Set and the Gojiberry Buttercake with Homemade Chrysanthemum Ice cream.

The Deconstructed Pavlova (RM20) was extremely beautiful in both appearance and taste. The meringue ball was super light and crunchy, while the green tea sable crumbs added an awesome texture and flavour to bring the whole dessert together. When combined with the fresh fruits, homemade yoghurt lime ice cream and lemon curd, this whole dessert was a party in my mouth. It also had strawberry yoghurt drizzled over the dessert and edible flowers sprinkled over it.

The Breakfast Set (RM 26) was a pretty innovative twist on our typical coffee shop breakfast. We all know what a traditional Malaysian breakfast is - half boiled telur, kaya toast and teh tarik or coffee. This was a sweet take on what we commonly know as a Malaysian breakfast. The usual telur in the set was, in fact, a passionfruit egg and cream with a white chocolate shell! It was really mind-boggling to cut into what seemed like an egg but to taste white chocolate and cream! We all know that Gula Melaka must be thick and concentrated and not watered down. And thankfully, the gula melaka in the set did not fail us! The Nescafe Creme Brûlée was spectacular to say the least - very creamy with a nice strong coffee taste. There was also a butter waffle served with homemade Teh Tarik ice cream, fried nestum, homemade kaya, milk "butter" crumble and curry leaf.

The Gojiberries Longan Cake with Homemade Chrysanthemum Ice Cream (RM 13) is akin to a Christmas fruitcake, except with goji berries instead of raisins! I really enjoyed this cake with kind of a Chinese twist to it. The chrysanthemum ice cream proved to be a pretty interesting pairing! We would normally drink this as a kokfa drink but to have it in an ice cream was also very refreshing. Foret Blanc also sprinkled some pistachio snow onto the dessert - overall very aesthetically pleasing.

Foret Blanc was honestly an EPIC experience for me. I have recommended a lot of people to go there since and am looking forward to my next visit. I love their passion and drive to engineer aesthetically surprising and constantly innovative taste profiles. Highly recommend that everyone tries this place out!
