ABar Rooftop @ Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park

Perched on the 37th & 38th floor of the famed Bangkok Marriot Marquis Queen's Park hotel hides a gem of a bar with an amazing skyline of the beautiful Bangkok city.
The ambiance exudes a classy vibe and reminded me of my favourite movie The Great Gatsby (if you haven't watched it, go watch it now!). Dark classic wooden fixtures, wingback chairs and a beautifully decorated cocktail bar, Abar is a place that makes you want to put your three-piece suit on and sip some gin like a don.
The bar overlooks the spectacular Bangkok skyline and guests can choose to sit snugly indoors on the 37th floor or enjoy the breeze at the semi-al fresco terrace under the stars on the 38th floor. One of my favourite thing about this skybar is their outdoor sofa seating which have cool air conditioned breeze blowing your neck to keep you cool especially during warm nights. I was totally mind blown and caught off guard as this is the first sky bar I know that features this for their customers. Bravo!

ABar Rooftop is proud of their wide variety of gin (about 50 brands so far) offered at their premises. Go for classics such the gin & tonic if you like to keep it safe or take a leap of faith and let their experienced bartenders whip you up something out of this world.
We sampled 4 of their signature cocktails and boy did we enjoy all of them.
G&T (505 THB)
The first is of course is the ever famous gin & tonic (G&T) with a unique twist. The gin of choice is the Scottish brand Caorunn, a premium handcrafted gin from Scotland that is known for its botanical ingredients such as rowan berries, coul blush apple and dandelion. It's floral and sweet profile makes it and easy cocktail to sip. Paired with hibiscus tonic water, this is one of the most unique G&T rendition I have ever tried.

Bitter Sweet Time (385 THB)
Next up is the Bitter Sweet Time. The name rightly describes the cocktail with a harmonious blend of bitter and sweet cues from aperol (Italian bitter orange), citrus cardamom shrubs, thyme and a splash of fever tree tonic. The cocktail taste as beautiful as it looks. A perfect choice for warm evenings to cool you down.

Be Gin (375 THB)
This is my favourite out of the 4 I tried. The Be Gin cocktail is made using Beefeater 24 gin combined with Luxardo Maraschino liqueur which gives it a soury taste as well as lavender syrup, fresh lemon juice topped with egg white. The purple colour of the cocktail is derived from butterfly beans. An instant classic and a definite must-try!

Gin Mule (385 THB)
The Gin Mule is a rendition of the ever popular Moscow Mule cocktail but instead of using vodka, the fine bartenders at ABar have created a version using none other than gin. Made using Beefeater 24 gin, homemade kaffir lime syrup, fresh lime juice and a dash of sparkling water. Finished with a slice of dehydrated lemon on top for that zesty after taste.
If you're ever in town, I highly suggest you drop by ABar Rooftop for a tantalizing cocktail experience while taking in Bangkok's famous skyline to unwind the night.
