Speakeasy bars have been popping up left right centre all around Kuala Lumpur. How true they are to what speakeasies were meant to be historically, that is up for debate. But they have provided plenty of new options for drinking and hanging out with friends.

Skullduggery is one of Bukit Damansara's newest drinking spots. It's a little challenging to find the entrance because you will have to walk behind Huckleberry Food & Fare into the back alley to find it. But you shouldn't miss it once you reach the alley. You should probably not venture there alone either... Better be safe than sorry.

Once you walk up the stairs into the bar, you will feel as though you've been transported to a whole different dimension. Classic old furniture sit among industrial copper fittings and a train track allows for a small locomotive to run around the bar. It does little for functionality but makes for a fun talking point.

As it is a speakeasy, you can tell the bartender what you would like to drink, of course, and have them make you a signature tipple on demand. Or you could take a look at the menu and pick something boring, which is what I did. Of all drinks I could have chosen, I went with a margarita (RM40 - I make #badlifedecisions).

My drinking partner went with something far more adventurous - she chose a squid ink tequila based cocktail (RM45), which is highly recommended. Drinks here are pretty pricey, which is typical of a "speakeasy bar" in KL, also considering it is in Bukit Damansara. So, if you're planning on drinking a lot, best to make sure your wallet can handle it.
