Review: O Banh Mi, One Utama (and Uptown)

I've had O Banh Mi a decent amount of times before I decided to write this post. I simply love the casual vibe of the cafe, the simplicity of the food and the great service.

Of course, if I see French toast on the menu, I must try it. And mannnn, that Vietnamese French toast is the softest, fluffiest, sweetest tasting French toast I've ever tried. It is served with peanuts and ice cream, so be sure to ask for no peanuts if you're allergic like I am. It's priced at a decent RM11.

If you're a big fan of samosas and Malaysian popiahs, this Vietnamese deep fried spring roll should be no stranger to your tastebuds. For RM9, you get 3 rolls of fully stuffed spring rolls with a side of Vietnamese chilli sauce, not unlike the Thai chilli sauce.

If you like pho or vermicelli, O Banh Mi serves a mean rendition of the dish. Though, be warned that it is showered with copious amounts of peanuts and the taste of the coriander might come off a little strong.

Or if you're craving for fried food, the fried version of the vermicelli also stands out. For only RM12, your wallet won't feel a great pinch.

Of course, no trip to O Banh Mi is complete without a taste of their name sake - the Banh mi. Vietnamese sandwiches are brought to the next level at O Banh Mi with their offering of charcoal buns. My personal favourite is the O Teriyaki (RM11). Enjoy juicy pieces of chicken lathered in teriyaki sauce, served with generous vegetable topping. Drip a bit of sriracha sauce over the chicken to tantalise your tastebuds with a spicy zing.

Locally made sriracha sauce - a perfect addition to any Banh Mi or even to dip your fried spring roll in.
