BeGin, Boat Quay

It’s hard not to fall in love with a place like BeGin. Not only because it’s got a sizeable gin library to choose from, but also for its industrial chic interior and overall unpretentious vibe. Located just upstairs from The Penny Black in Boat Quay, you have to go through the pub to access this speakeasy-like gin bar. It’s a totally different world from the pub downstairs. If the downstairs pub can be likened to a rowdy neighbourhood watering hole in Liverpool, then this gin

Knowhere, Bangsar

We recently dropped by Knowhere in Bangsar. You can't really miss it because it is facing the main Jalan Maarof road and its logo kind of stands out, welcoming everyone to give it a try. Also it’s hilarious when Waze announces that you’ve arrived at “Knowhere”. And I can imagine conversations going: “Where are you going tonight?” “Knowhere.” Quirky name aside, I love the interior of the place. The string fairy lights give it a dreamy feel and we love the keyhole wall mural th

Drinks at Komyuniti @ YOTEL, Orchard

Komyuniti is a new chic and unique dining experience brought to you by YOTEL. If you’ve been following us closely, you’d know that we were pretty overwhelmed by the sheer amount of food and drinks we were served when we came here to dine. So, we decided to split the food and drinks into two articles. Click here to check out the food. Apart from the amazing food here, Komyuniti has launched its first cocktail programme under its F&B manager As’ad Isnin. We had (much more than)

Three Buns, Robertson Quay

Not many burgers have the ability to truly blow my mind, the last time that happened was when I tried Hans Im Glück when it first came to Singapore last year. I couldn’t be happier to find another burger joint that was able to take my breath away the way Three Buns by Potato Head did. Three Buns isn’t new to the scene, their award-winning burgers have been in Singapore for a few years at Potato Head, but this is their first stand-alone burger place in Singapore, and with it,

Fancy, North Canal Road

Stepping into this brand new watering hole along a stretch of an unassuming street, Fancy was not what I was expecting. It’s modern, minimal aesthetics, mirrors it’s philosophy in their cocktails and food. For a place called Fancy, there was a noticeable lack of theatrics. You have no idea how much the aesthetic of the bar speaks to me. Grey concrete floors, monochromatic furniture, a single pink daisy adorne each table giving a pop of colour. The main feature on the far back

The Red Chamber KL, Taman OUG

When it comes to speakeasies, you would imagine walking in to find overpriced cocktails and a pretentious vibe. But that’s definitely not the case at The Red Chamber, KL. The Red Chamber is a speakeasy that exudes a chilled out, vintage Asian vibe. Here, you will find cocktails, craft beers and a laidback vibe you’ll feel comfortable spending hours enjoying. Craft beers here are aplenty from IPAs to darker stouts. We loved the variety here but I gravitated to my usual Hitac

Maltby Street Market, London

Photo by Samad | View of the street Street markets have become a widespread across every corner of the big bustling city of London, ranging from touristic ones like the Borough Market to slightly smaller and less busy ones like the Maltby Street Market in the LASSCO Ropewalk. I visited the Maltby Street Market because I wanted to avoid the crowds. Much to my relief, the market wasn't as jam packed as others I've been to, which made my whole experience a lot more comfortable

Origin Bar, Shangri-La Hotel

If only learning more about Singapore’s history and heritage was as fun as it is at Origin Bar, Shangri-La’s swanky new watering hole. Deep emerald greens walls, dark woods furniture and low amber lights deck the lush interior, which was inspired by train stations from a bygone era of men in top hats and ladies in long flowy dresses, it truly felt like stepping back in time. With a distinct cocktail menu inspired by five different districts, Orchard, Chinatown, Little India,

W1, Bangsar

Photo by Samad | The facade of W1 from Jalan Telawi 2 So when you hear about British restaurants, what's the first thing that pops up into your mind? I ALWAYS think of fish and chips, and the occasional haggis, however we were pleasantly surprised by the dinner served to us at W1 located in busy Bangsar, a British-London style restaurant offering London-styled dishes with an Asian twist. Here's a fun fact! The owner of the restaurant told us that he chose the name W1 because

Highball, Kampung Bahru

“Highball. A simple cocktail, most commonly made with two ingredients - a spirit and a carbonated mixer, and served in an ice-filled highball glass.” True to its namesake, Highball is a simple bar with a robust base of quality and affordable cocktails, with an effervescent mixer of charm led by head honcho, Kino, and her all-female crew. Talk about girl power right there! I was at Highball to check out bar manager Anne’s entry for the Gin Jubilee -- Who Can’t Be Tamed. A drin

Catchfly, Ann Siang Hill

Ann Siang Hill and Club Street, both are spots popular for many to relax and have a drink after a long day’s work. Although, even if you frequent the area, you might miss this hidden little bar called Catchfly. Situated below Coriander Leaf Grill and Screening Room, Catchfly is quite literally an underground bar. Stepping into the place feels like entering an exclusive club where secret agents meet to have a drink and discuss classified information. Its warm back lighting, br

Tiki Taka Menu Revamp, Medan Damansara

Tiki Taka is still one of my favourite places to go to for pintxos and tapas. I always like trying a little bit of everything, so the small servings at Tiki Taka is ideal and perfect for sharing! Plus, their new menu makes me want to try EVERYTHING! I feel that this time around, Tika Taka's menu gravitates a bit more to the Asian flavours, which I personally love. I love Chef Carrie Scully's creativity when it comes to transforming a typical Malaysian dish into something more

Clutch Chicken, Bethnal Green, London

We had the pleasure of trying Clutch's own Boozy Brunch. For only £25 you can choose a dish from their brunch menu and enjoy free flows of Bloody Marys, Proseccos or Mimosas! I think this is a very reasonable price of unlimited booze and brunch given that I have had some places charge £22 for just unlimited booze and you'd have to fork out another £12 - £15 for their mains. Their Bloody Mary was my favourite drink out of the three! It was everything you'd want in one and more

Neo Bistro, London

Neo Bistro was just opened in June by Alex Harper from the Harwood Arms and Mark Jarvis from Anglo. They took their technique and skills to a more informal setting here at Neo Bistro. The atmosphere was relaxed and minimalistic, not overly fussy or stuffy. We sat down and ordered a few cocktails to start off our journey into this new movement. The Mezcal Margherita (£9) was a beautiful sight to behold and a wonderfully strong drink. The rim was garnished with dried hisbiscus

Inamo, Camden London

London is home to many eateries. When it comes to food, we're definitely spoilt for choice. We were absolutely delighted to be invited to Inamo for a food tasting one fine evening. We arrived at Mornington Crescent tube stop (a few stops north of Tottenham Court Road on the Northern Line) after a long day at work to find that Inamo is conveniently located right in front of the tube exit! We passed an outdoor heated garden (perfect for drinks and weekend meals) as we entered t

Flying Monkey, Bussorah Street

Flying Monkey is an Indian establishment which comes across as fun and quirky compared to other Indian restaurants which tend to be very relatively formal in its atmosphere. While they are not trying to be fusion, they do take traditional Indian food and add their modern twist to it - serving it in the style of tapas. The dishes come from different parts of India. So be sure to try a whole variety of their dishes, making this place a good one for you to bring your mates to. I

Zoom Sky Bar at Anantara Sathorn, Bangkok

Shopping, night markets and sexy shows are just some elements that make up Bangkok's colourful lifestyle. To add on even more sprinkle onto the kaleidoscope of activities to do there, sky bars have been popping up at every possible rooftop there. Zoom Sky Bar and Restaurant at Anantara Sathorn is one of these sky bars that both locals and tourists flock to. Seats can be quite limited so be sure to make a reservation early. Because you don't want to miss out on these spectacul

GinRikSha: the cocktail menu

GinRikSha has wowed us with their food but did you know that they also serve cocktails? The cocktails here are pretty reasonably priced - much more so than places like Omakase + Appreciate and Skullduggery. Of course, this isn't some "speakeasy" but ultimately, I have yet to try any cocktails in Malaysia that have really blown me away. Singapore's a different story. So if you're in the neighbourhood and you're looking for a place with good food and decently priced drinks, thi

Manja Old Malaya: a cocktail experience like no other

Manja Old Malaya not only has a host of Malaysian-fusion food, but it also has a list of cocktails that has a Malaysian twist. The restaurant has an extensive drinks menu and alcohol selection, but we decided to sample their interesting cocktail list. The rooftop seating area affords patrons a close-up view of the KL Tower and the gorgeous night sky, if the weather permits. The highlight of the night was Manja’s take on an Espresso Martini. The Kopi Ping Martini (RM35) highli
