PizzaExpress, Scotts Square

PizzaExpress is known for their special Dough Balls, which we heard were all the rage. So we went down to check out what the fuss was all about. We started out with the Christmas Dough Balls ($6), which comes with black truffle dip (yaaaasss), cranberry chutney and garlic butter. The balls had a soft, yet crispy skin but the inside was nice and fluffy. The black truffle dip was very light on the palate, but of course, carried the distinct truffle fragrance. The cranberry chut

Basilico, Regent Hotel

Tucked away at the back of Cuscaden Road in Regent Hotel, it may be a little out of the way for some, but it's worth the trip if you are looking to get a taste of Italy. Coincidentally, that is also the theme of the restaurant for 2017. We tried the Winter and Spring menus, and boy, are they exciting! Pictured above is the central buffet table of Basilico which prides in its plethora of foods originating from Italy. Merluzzo Avvolto in Pancetta Affumicata servito con Broccole

The Disgruntled Brasserie, Ann Siang Rd

Located at The Club Hotel on Ann Siang Hill, The Disgruntled Brasserie offers a variety of Modern European dishes that is impressive. The selection spans across many cuisines that it was easy for everyone to pick something they would enjoy. Personally, I like to start my meals with an aperitif and for this brunch experience, I decided to try The Clipperton ($18). While I am not a huge fan of champagne on its own, the addition of Pimm’s, raspberry and of course, the lemon garn

Oberstrasse, Lavender

It was a lazy Saturday afternoon and I was craving a good brunch. So I decided to head to this cafe located in Lavender. If you’re looking for one of the best places for brunch in Singapore, look no further than Oberstrasse. Oberstrasse is located in Kitchener Complex, just behind Lavender MRT (V Hotel exit). They’re known for their yummy German/Swiss style food and affordable prices. I started with a side of luncheon fries ($5.50). It was the epitome of sinful. I couldn’t st

Artistry, Bugis

When I first moved to Singapore, I was excited at the prospect of going cafe-hopping around the island-city. But I soon discovered that my daily work routine prevented me from doing much of that. Thankfully, before the rush of working life in Singapore engulfed me completely, I managed to go around trying a few cafes. Artistry was one of them. One early Sunday morning, we decided to head to Artistry to grab a quick breakfast before heading to service. Since it is in the Bugis

Hyde & Co, North Bridge Rd

I stumbled across Hyde & Co. when I was searching for places to have a killer Singapore chilli crab sauce pasta. So, we set aside a brunch date one weekday and made our way to North Bridge Rd to check out this halal establishment - a rarity in Singapore. Of course, much like many other cafes in Singapore, Hyde & Co. reflects a similar facade that is both minimalist and hipster. White walls are lined with art and food-related quotes to stimulate your mind while you wait for yo

The Refinery, Lavender

Tucked away in a corner of King George's Avenue near an industrial area Lavender and Jalan Besar is The Refinery. Perhaps the space it sits in used to be a refinery of sorts, but we know for sure it is definitely a refined experience to dine here. Food here is largely Japanese-based with a hint of western influence, though its cocktails are definitely not Asian-inspired. The Refinery is popular among both the lunch and dinner crowd with dinner attracting more happy hour hunte
