After a busy week of work it's always good to take a break and wind down with your family and friends. We strolled pass the Hilton's lobby with a showcase of D9 Cakery's handcrafted cakes by Executive Pastry Chef Cindy Khoo and entered the restaurant with a long table displaying an array of infused TWG iced teas. This was certainly a perfect way to start the weekend! As Lau Tzu says, "Tea is the elixir of life".
This is no ordinary high tea! The buffet line-up presents over 30 choices of international and local delights and six live stations. Here are some of the highlights that we enjoyed!
I'm not sure about you, but I absolutely love cheese. This parmesan cheese wheel tom-yum flavoured pasta is a must try at this high tea as it is absolutely delicious! The chef at the station cooks each portion sautéed with fresh king prawns, coconut milk and spices before tossing it with all that cheese!
There is also a Rojak station, translated as an iconic local Asian salad with different condiments. All you have to do is pick the vegetables you prefer and toss in into the bowl with a peanut base sauce!
Next we tried these mini wagyu sliders served on a charcoal bun stuffed with pickled cabbage and caramelised onions. You could easily polish off a few of these and trust me it's filling and delicious. So, pace yourselves! You're going to need to leave some space for the rest to come.
Orh Jian also known as Singapore's Oyster Omelette is prepared fresh on the spot and served in a little boat. It has a starchy consistency but nonetheless a crowd pleaser.
And of course an Asian High Tea buffet is not complete without the traditional chicken and beef satay skewers accompanied with the condiments on the side. The sweet pineapple was one of my favourite condiments.
Hilton Singapore D9 Cakery is well known for its classic cheese cakes. But when it comes to blueberry cheesecakes, the fruit usually comes out of a can. No such thing here at Hilton! The high quality and standard of the cheese and fresh blueberries are worth every calorie!
The sakura velvet is one of the many creations from Chef Cindy Khoo's repertoire. Precision and love is what you will find in these mini artisanal handcrafted creations, baked to perfection.
There is also a wide selection of deconstructed desserts to choose from! The last time we were at D9 Cakery Hilton, we tasted all of Chef Cindy's latest cake creations that you can also indulge during this high tea!
End your afternoon with a live chocolate fountain with homemade financier, marshmallow, fresh strawberries and mango.
We were surprised and impressed that this "high tea" had such a wide selection of delicious local delights and desserts that we enjoyed to the fullest!
