Over the weekend, one of my favourite places to head to for some claypot rice -- Provisions -- relaunched and introduced a new menu, bringing in more yummy claypot dishes.
I was here a few months back and remember scraping the bottom of the claypot bowl just to get to the crispy charred bits.
I was found doing the same for Provision's new dish, the Pork & Salted Fish Rice ($18). I'm an oldie at heart, I love my rice with salty dishes to pair and this was perfect. I loved that it wasn't too strong in flavour and the rice balanced out the salted fish. Oh! Don't forget to add in the condiments that come on the side.
If you're after something that's more strong in flavour, I would suggest the Braised Pork Rice ($18). It even comes with intestines for those of you who like them.
On the side, we had a KFC ($10) to share. Yes, you read that right. KFC here in Provisions. But wait, KFC here stands for Korean Fried Cauliflower. I guess you can tell yourself that it's a slightly more healthy alternative compared to the actual KFC since this is vegetable dish! I was glad I finally got to try this because I didn't get the chance to the last time.
Oh so amazing! But you've got to eat it while it's hot. The fried cauliflower is coated in a sticky sweet sauce (just like with korean fried chicken) and it sticks to your teeth when you chew into it. Mmmm.
For desserts, we tried the Chendol ($5) with something in it prepared with charcoal fire. I'm not telling you what, so you've got to head there yourself to try it.
Here's an interesting dessert for you people out there who love your coconuts. The Dadih ($6) is just filled with coconutty goodness -- coconut jelly, coconut flesh and a scoop of coconut ice cream. Utterly refreshing and the best way to end a meal.
Another thing I love about this place is that when I can't decide what exactly I want to drink, I can just tell the bartender what kind of flavours I want and I can trust that something amazing will appear in front of me.
This even works with mocktails. So be prepared to be surprised!
