Acai bowls have been all the rage in Kuala Lumpur and Acai Lab has opened up its door at Solaris Mont Kiara, taking up the half shop lot with Brasil Fitness. The acai berry, which originates from Brazil, is base ingredient for the acai bowls that everyone is going crazy about.
Acai berry bowls here at Acai Lab range from RM15.90 to RM21.90 depending on the size of the bowl. Each bowl is a quick to-go kind of meal - the size you pick just depends on how much you wish to eat. All three bowls - rio, muscle up and Harimau Malaysia bowls are delicious in their own right and are made up of the best, healthy ingredients ready for consumption.
Our favourite was the muscle up bowl made up of chocolate protein whey, coconut water, grapes and chia seeds and it is topped off with peanut butter, but if you're allergic to peanuts, like I am, you can request for it without their homemade peanut butter sauce.
The Acai Lab is run by a husband-wife team and their business partners and a lot of heart has gone into researching and sourcing the best material. At the time of the review, they were still using paper bowls but were looking for more eco-friendly alternatives to replace it with.
The acai pulp is imported directly from Brazil and is processed and packed here. The owners are thinking of selling the acai base to customers soon. And starting this year, the bowls are customisable. Acai Lab also makes their granola in house and are incredibly generous with the serving. A must-try for all granola fans!
