So I'm about to head off to Bangkok and though it's just a two hour flight away from Kuala Lumpur, I've learnt enough from my flights to Barcelona, New York and London to know what I need for my travels to have the ultimate foodie experience.
1. A 3 metre long charging cable for my iPhone
This will set you back a good RM109 if you get it from an Apple retailer in Malaysia but it's worth every cent. Don't worry about looking for a spot near the charging points. You can be standing up to 3 metres away charging your devices with this baby. What's more important than keeping your phone and iPad charged to take great foodie pics with, right?
2. Sign up for a Premier Miles card
Access to the premium lounges in airports worldwide is a superb way to get free food. The food may not be the best but hey, when you've got a hot buffet to choose from, there should be little to complain about. It's a great way to kill time while waiting for your flight and signing up for a credit card is free!
3. A goooood neck pillow (because it is important to get good sleep after stuffing your face at the premium lounge!)
So, sometimes, our bodies just don't agree on the types of fried, oily, spicy, heaty, (insert adjective) food we consume overseas and we end up with a sore throat. Having a pack of lozenges on hand will ensure you get to continue enjoying all the great food without doing too much damage. ;)
5. Noise-cancelling headphones
If you're trying to enjoy a great meal and there are screaming children everywhere, you can be sure that the quality of your meal will be compromised. Drown out the chatter and crying with a good pair of noise cancelling headphones. Personally, I like Audio Technica's stuff. But I'm sure you all have your own preferences!
