Tree Howf Staycation, Craighead Farm, Dunblane

All you staycationers out there, take note — I’m lucky to have found another spot for glamping in Scotland, and it's possibly my most favourite of all time!

The Tree Howf, located in the humble Craighead Farm near Dunblane, Perthshire, is a gorgeous timber house built around the branches of an existing tree. Settled atop a hill on the farm, step inside for a 360º panoramic view of the beautiful Ochil Hills of Stirling. Plus, you'll meet some of the cutest animals — think donkeys, highland cows, rams, pigmy goats, turkeys, geese, guinea fowls, hens and a friendly neighbourhood litter of fluffy cats.

The Tree Howf itself is a work of art, built by the owners of the farm who worked as joiners prior to becoming hosts of this wonderful establishment. The Tree Howf is a perfect weekend getaway, bringing warmth and a sprinkle of magic to visitors who enter. You can definitely imagine yourself staying with gnomes and fairies while standing in the centre of the Tree Howf.

The Tree Howf has everything you need for a comfortable break away from the city. There's a kitchen complete with dining area, oven and a wooden stove (to keep you warm at night). Then rest your weary eyes on a king size bed after taking a hot shower. You're going to have to brave it with a compost toilet but it wouldn't be a glamping experience without one.
There’s also a BBQ pit outside where you can cook up some amazing vegetables and sausages — which is exactly what we did! Together with the view of the colourful sunset, our simple dinner was unforgettable.
The Craighead Farm also has a little shop selling basic necessities and some foods like canned tuna and pasta. No one monitors the shop as it runs on an honesty system. All you have to do is write down what you’ve taken from the shop and leave the money owed in a jar, simple! Next to the shop is a communal fridge for all visitors to use.

Speaking of visitors, there are other glamping houses around the Craighead Farm. These include Hobbit Howfs, nestled within the hill slopes pass the Tree Howf, and Summers Howfs, built on a beautiful whimsical garden next to a large pond. There's also a massive cottage suitable for a family of 6. It comes with a hot tub too!

This luxury glamping staycation was an unforgettable experience — spectacular views, lovely hosts, adorable animals and the Tree Howf itself that I honestly wish I lived in. At £175 per night, it was worth every penny. It's a great way to celebrate a special occasion or as a gift for someone you love! Consider the Craighead Howfs for your next weekend getaway!
