TIIGO, Seminyak

Our first meal upon arriving in the nicer part of Seminyak was at Montigo Resort’s TIIGO. Here is where outsiders are welcome to dine at the restaurant or enjoy the pool. (The resort also has 2 other private pools for guests only.)

We loved the tropical vibes of the place and couldn’t wait to taste some of the best local fare TIIGO had to offer.

Once you sit down, you’re offered bread with herbed butter and a tomato salsa.

I ordered a watermelon juice to start the meal with. The weather in Bali is less hot and humid than that of Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, so coming from there, Bali was a nice respite. But it was still good to have a cold drink in the midday to cool down the body.

We started our meal with fried calamari, which came as a huge portion! Each calamari was also really big - and this is something we soon realised about the portions at TIIGO. The crispy calamari was so moreish we just couldn’t stop eating it till the last bite.

We also tried the sate lilit. This is a traditional Indonesian dish that must be tried during any visit to Indonesia. Each restaurant would have a different way to serving this dish, so it’s always best to give it a try. You never know what flavours you’re going to be experiencing each time.

We also tried a Balinese dish - ayam betutu, which featured a tender chicken, topped off with pickled vegetables, served with rice, vegetables and deep fried corn fritters. Another dish that is a must try in Bali is babi guling - which we got to taste at TIIGO.

Pork is easily found in Bali due to the fact that the majority of the population here is Hindu rather than Muslim. As such, not many of them fast during the Ramadan month and there are many good food options available throughout the day.

The final touch on a fulfilling meal was the dessert. We tried their pandan crepe, a light and enjoyable dessert. It was the perfect way to end the meal.

So remember, if you're craving noms at 2, 3 or 4AM, this 24 hour place has got you covered!
