Tendon Kohaku x Man Man Unagi, Clarke Quay
Two of Singapore's most popular Japanese eateries — Tendon Kohaku and Man Man Unagi, have joined forces to introduce a new collaborative dining concept in Clarke Quay Central, officially opening on 31 of July 2019. What's even more exciting however is the brand new, exclusive dishes only available at these outlets.
Tendon Kohaku specialises in hearty bowls of fresh seafood tendon, whereas Man Man Unagi is a prominent Japanese establishment serving premium grilled eel imported from Japan.

At Man Man Unagi, the exclusive dish is the Kaisen x Hitsumabushi by Teppei and Man Man Unagi ($32.50++). The star of the dish is the premium grilled Japanese eel submerged in thick unagi sauce, served on a bed of Nanatsuboshi Japanese white rice. Furthermore, this delightful eel dish has a serving of fresh kaisen don, which is marinated using a secret sauce from Teppei restaurant. As a Hitsumabushi dish, you have 3 ways to enjoy this bowl of goodness. On its own, with a mix of condiments like wasabi, green onions and seaweed, or lastly by adding a splash of dashi-based soup alongside the condiments. You can even add more unagi sauce too.

When you can't decide between a Tendon or Chirashi Don, why not have both at once? The Kaisen Tendon by Kohaku and Teppei (S$26.50++) at Tendon Kohaku is piled generously with either a choice of white Nanatsuboshi rice or Zakkokumai (16 different multi-grain rice), topped with a mix of root vegetable tempura and fresh seafood tempura. All the tempura are hand-coated in batter and fried in a blend of premium grade sesame oil.
This special combination was put together by Head Chef Hideki Tsukao of Tendon Kohaku and Chef Teppei Yamashita of Man Man Unagi.

Another exclusive item is the Jumbo Unagi Tendon (S$29++). This masterpiece includes a jumbo eel, hand-battered and deep fried, then served with warm Nanatsuboshi white rice.

They have also taken your regular chawanmushi up a notch with the Premium Chawanmushi with Unagi and Ikura (S$6.50++). Their version of chawanmushi adds premium unagi and umami flavour from the Ikura, sitting atop silken egg cooked with chicken broth, chicken pieces, shiitake mushrooms and spring onion. It definitely makes this dish stand out from any typical chawanmushi served elsewhere.

Last but not least, the Unagi Dragon Roll (S$9.00++) is one dish not to be missed. This crunchy roll combines crispy battered prawn tempura, crab stick, avocado and Japanese white rice with vinegar, drizzled with a touch of Japanese Mayo and tobiko. It's a perfect compliment to your main meal or for sharing with others.
