Salted Egg Buffet at The Square, Novotel Clarke Quay
As someone who has been living in Singapore for many years, I have seen how food trends here make it and break it. But one food trend has yet (and doesn’t seem even close) to see its curtains close – the salted egg.
Hence, many have dubbed salted egg (dishes) a “local delicacy”. And with Singapore’s National Day coming up, Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay’s The Square Restaurant is going for the gold and presenting its first ever Salted Egg Buffet.

From now till 30 August 2018, go mad dipping skewers of food into their Golden Velvet Salted Egg Fountain. Yes, that’s right, a fountain sprouting salted egg sauce.

Here are some of the skewered food you can dip into all that salted egg goodness.

We personally loved the chicken drums with the salted egg sauce. We just couldn't get enough of it.
And this doesn’t end here. We’re just only getting started.

We were previously here for Novotel’s seafood buffet and tried the Salted Egg Crayfish, which is making an encore appearance here. This has got to be my favourite salted egg dish right here. The cray fish is pretty small and doesn’t have a lot of meat, but thankfully, this is a buffet and you can keep going back for more!

Here’s some salted egg mac and cheese to add some carbs into your meal. Be sure to scoop some of the cheese on the top too!

The Roasted Beed Striploin was amazing! And if you want, you can even top it off with some salted egg sauce. But I would recommend it with their house gravy as you wouldn’t want to overload yourself with salted egg, or do you?
For those of you who are a fan of their regular seafood buffet, fret not because most of the fresh seafood are also here.

There's also a pasta station, where you can get their chef to whip you up fresh pasta. I got the carbonara and absolutely loved it.
Salted egg is everywhere and including the dessert!

There’s even a salted egg cheesecake, which I personally found to be not bad at all. It’s a very dense cheesecake, which is normally a good thing, but after all the food, I couldn’t stomach much of it.

If you’re feeling adventurous, try the Salted Egg Chilli Chocolate Mousse, which marries spicy, salty and sweet flavours together. Surprisingly tasty!

We were thoroughly impressed by the pancake maker and were even more impressed that the pancakes came out tasting amazing!
