Positano Ristorante, Publika
It’s been a long time since a new player for Italian food has stepped onto the scene in Kuala Lumpur. We’ve had quite a number of brands in the country that we're familiar with but we’re glad to see that Positano Ristorante (originating from Singapore) has decided to open its doors in KL.
Publika is already inundated with so many restaurants but what sets Positano apart from the rest is not only its stellar halal offerings in Italian cuisine but also its ability to elevate standards.
Located at a corner standalone lot, Positano has a lot to offer in space and variety. Here, you will find delicious Italian dishes not commonly found elsewhere. We sampled Positano Ristorante’s Singapore Menu (full review here) and was pleasantly surprised to find that they had exclusive dishes here in KL.
We kick started our meal with the Gamberetti Alla Crema (RM 25.95). This decadent dish comprises juicy tiger prawns cooked in garlic and cream, served with a side of toasted baguette. We just couldn’t get enough of the richness in the sauce, the freshness of the prawns and the perfect balance of flavours in the final execution of the dish.
Continuing along the creamy streak, we tasted their garlic herb chicken pizza (RM38.95) next. If you love cream and cheese as much as we do, then this pizza will win over your heart and (belly!). We loved the perfectly baked thin crust which complemented the heavy sauce beautifully.
Easily one of my favourite dishes for the evening was the smoked duck tortellini (RM49.95). Each pocket of tortellini was stuffed with deliciously seasoned duck and mushroom, and coated in the homemade duck jus. This is quite a rich and heavy dish as well, but we cleaned the plate - making sure not to leave a drop of jus!
Finally for dessert, we were treated to a decadent ice cream brioche (RM36.95) which is boasted to be a Positano signature. Sink your teeth into the soft bun and enjoy the gelato filling. Just be warned that this is a sizeable dessert that can be shared by two (or three if you’re really small eaters!).
To cap off the meal, we had some of their house special milkshakes. A good milkshake is hard to come by and we were certainly not disappointed by Positano’s. My personal favourite was the Ferrero Rocher and Nutella one, aptly named the Godfather (RM24.95). It’s a winning combination that simply can’t go wrong.
We also sampled the honey and fig milkshake (RM18.95) which was lighter in flavour compared to the Godfather but still proved to be a delicious milkshake and had us wanting more.
It was an amazing first experience we had at Positano and were sure to visit again soon.
