Jamaica Blue @ The Robertson, KL

One of Australia's most successful retail franchise companies, Jamaica Blue is now in newly developed commercial cum residences The Robertson, Kuala Lumpur.

Jamaica Blue seeks to deliver truly unique contemporary cafe experience, with exclusive premium products and award-winning coffee. It believes in sourcing the best of ingredients which are fresh and locally-sourced.

We started off our brunch here with Jamaica Blue's award-winning signature blend coffee. We had a cup of long black (RM6.90) and a cup of latte (RM9.90). Both coffees are medium roasted and made with 100% Arabica beans sourced from six of the world's most renowned coffee regions. Both the coffees tasted creamy with a delicate chocolate after taste.

For our first dish, we had a Warm Forest Mushroom, Feta & Spinach Bowl (RM18.80). This bowl consists of a mix of soft quinoa and almond porridge, fresh chickpeas, a beautifully poached egg, mixed herbs and dukkah. The flavours are influenced by Middle Eastern cuisines and perfect for vegetarians. Not to mention, it is also on the healthier side and can keep you full for a long time as the porridge and vegetables are rich in fibre.

Up next was the Turkish Spiced Poached Eggs (RM16.90). This dish was a robust mix of Middle Eastern spices. The yoghurt was drizzled with warm chilli butter, sauteed spinach, and was topped with a blend of fresh herbs and aromatic dukkah spice. It tasted quite similar to the first dish which we had. The only difference was the use of yogurt instead of porridge, which we hope was served warm instead of it being cold. Nonetheless, it was a pleasant dish, which was comforting and filling.

The Jerk Spiced Chicken with Avocado and Mozzarella Cheese Sandwich (RM18.80), was our favourite dish here at Jamaica Blue. The jerk chicken was well seasoned and tender. It blended really well with the creaminess of avocado and mozzarella cheese. In addition to that, the panini bread was toasted perfectly -- crusty on the outside and soft and pillowy in the inside.

It was fascinating to Jamaica Blue include a locally inspired fusion dish. The Chicken Laksa Pasta (RM19.60) is a sort of creamy chicken alfredo pasta but, with a twist. They served us a generous portion of linguine and chicken pieces, all tossed in a fragrant turmeric cream sauce and topped with freshly chopped kaffir lime leaves and red chilli. Do eat this right upon serving as they get quite dry if you leave it out for too long.

The last of our main course was a crowd favourite, which is Jamaica Blue's Vintage Ground Beef Burger (RM27.20), featuring a homemade juicy beef patty, seared beef strips, creamy cheddar cheese, pickle, aioli sauce, crisp lettuce, sliced tomatoes and red onion. All of these ingredients are then sandwiched between two brioche burger buns. The beef patty was also well seasoned with the right amount of salt and pepper. We loved the addition of caramelised red onions as opposed to freshly sliced ones, as it gave the patty a tinge of sweetness. This burger was the perfect end to our meal.

On top of everything we had here, Jamaica Blue also serves pastries and cakes for you sweet tooth out there. Jamaica Blue is an ideal spot to schedule business meetings or to have a quick coffee with friends at this conveniently located cafe in the heart of Kuala Lumpur with a nice Australian vibe with ample of parking space too.
