Durian lovers, rejoice! Eat your heart out at Goodwood Park Hotel’s Durian Fiesta 2022, back for the 39th year running.
As a fan of the King of Fruits myself, I’m more than happy to indulge in the spread of durian desserts. This year, Goodwood Park Hotel has outdone itself once more. The delectable durian desserts incorporate a surprising number of fresh fruits – not something you’d normally expect with rich, decadent durian.
This year’s line-up consists of new creations and classics alike, all bound to tantalise your tastebuds. Let’s dive right into the desserts, and which ones you shouldn’t miss.

The D24 Lychee Blossom Cake ($19 per slice, $128 per 1.2kg whole cake) was a surprisingly complex cake. The layers immediately caught my attention. Resting atop a crunchy crust of digestive biscuits, there were also layers of rose sponge, lychee mouse and D24 pulp. Rose white chocolate glaze completed the cake, together with lychee, rose petals and dried roselle as garnish.

This was one of my favourites of the night. Despite how rich and creamy the durian was, the distinct rose fragrance and sweet, tart lychee flavour shone through clearly. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that this was one of the most picture-perfect sweet treats.

Another favourite was the D24 Strawberry Mascarpone Filo Tart ($19 per piece), an intricate dessert assembled by hand, from scratch. Eight layers of thin flaky filo pastry blossom around creamy D24 mousse and mascarpone cream. Finally, strawberries and chopped roasted pistachios crown this lovely dessert.
Each bite was absolutely delightful, and I really liked how the mascarpone cream made this dessert even richer. The strawberries also added some much-needed tartness to this sweet treat.

If you’re looking for something with more local flavour, look no further than the Mini D24 Roulade Trio ($28 for 6 pieces). Packed to the brim with creamy D24 mousse, the fluffy soft sponge cake rolls are also coated with icing sugar.
These come in three flavours (Pandan, Coffee and Strawberry), and the fragrant and sweet pandan roll is definitely a must-try.

Two exclusive items are only for dine-in at Min Jiang—the Deep Fried D24 Mochi Ball ($12++ for 3 pieces), and Pan-Fried D24 Blue Pea Kueh Salat ($12++ for 3 pieces).

The mochi balls in particular were incredibly addictive. Deep-fried with breadcrumbs for maximum crispiness, the highlight of this sweet treat is the creamy D24 and fresh milk curd mixture, which came wrapped in handcrafted chewy glutinous rice skin.

Of course, the classics are available at Goodwood Park Hotel too. When you hear Durian Fiesta, you’ll think of the D24 Mousse Cake ($18 per slice, $98 for 1kg, $196 for 2kg, $294 for 3kg).
