Chir Chir is the latest fried chicken place to hit the KL food scene. A little background: the chain started in Korea before making its way to neighbouring Singapore and has now landed in KL.

Our first visit to Chir Chir was a catastrophic mess as the kitchen wasn't ready to serve us just yet and had probably over-reached. But the second visit more than made up for it. I wasn't expecting much for the fried chicken here, to be honest. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised and in fact, it blew me away.

It's a casual dining place, so don't expect anything fancy here. It's a place fit for family, friends and even a quick bite with colleagues over lunch (since the food is prepared fairly quickly).

We started off with two pitchers of drinks. which was the grapefruit yogurt and pineapple smoothies. I generally don't like sweet drinks, so I didn't particularly enjoy either of the smoothies. But between the two, the pineapple had a nicer, gentler flavour. If you like tropical flavours, you will enjoy the pineapple.

The first chicken dish arrived shortly after. We tried their Rose Cheese Chiqueen. The dish is a crispy fried chicken tenders and potato wedges in a POOL of creamy cheese. It is a beautiful dish, served over a portable gas stove to keep the cheese hot and melty. I loved the mixture of fondue cheese and stringy mozzarella. Cheese lovers will surely DIE FOR this. This ended up being my favourite dish of the day.

The second dish we tried was their spicy chi-bap, which is a play on the classic Korean bibimbap dish. This dish came with a generous serving of juicy fried chicken tenders coated in a spicy sauce. I absolutely loved this dish because it was just the right amount of spiciness, allowing me to enjoy the burst of flavours in every bite.

Then, we tried their newest dish, the curry fried chicken. This is a local twist to the fried chicken, giving it a nice sweet and spicy flavour. I loved how good it smelled. If you're a fan of sweet curry, this fried chicken flavour is for you.

Next, we tried the Nest Snow, which is a few chicken tenders resting in a pan full of rich, creamy sauce. I loved the whipped cream at the top. It was an odd pairing, sure, but it worked.

Finally, we tried their best-selling honey butter chicken. This dish is served with rice cakes and a honey butter sauce. I love the honey butter sauce, it totally reminds me of the famous honey butter chips in Korea.
So, overall, our second experience at Chir Chir in Pavilion was a really good one. It was unfortunate for one of our other contributors to have to have had such a poor experience. But since the restaurant has sorted out its teething problems, we are confident that it can now execute its dishes without a hitch.
