Chicken Up, Buangkok

Having a headache finding for a place to eat, despise queues and having to wait for a table? Download the Quandoo app on your smartphone or head onto their online portal and pre-book a table beforehand hand. One of the places we like is Chicken Up @ Compassvale Link, literally a stone's throw away from Buangkok MRT station.

Start your meal with one of Chicken Up's musts have dish, a deep fried Yangpa Bomb ($12++). This is not your average round breaded onion rings you get elsewhere, but instead Chicken Up uses a large onion which is skillfully sliced and deep fried to resemble a beautiful bloomed flower which has a nice crispy texture.

Another starter that is not to be missed is their pan-fried Korean seafood pancake ($14++). The pancake had a generous mix of shrimps, squids, onions, chilli peppers and green chives, which had a rich burst of flavourful from the seafood, a delicate onion flavour with hints of garlic from the green chives and a dash of heat from the green peppers, however it was a tad salty to our liking.

Besides that, we recommend their Bulgogi Fries ($18++), which was fully loaded with thin slices of succulent beef marinated in sweet and savoury bulgogi sauce, and drizzled generously with their in-house made mayo sauce and fresh slices of onions. We do recommend to order their fries to share as the portion is rather large.

Of course, a definite must-have at Chicken Up is their famous and best seller Soy (GanJang) Fried Chicken Wings (12++). The chicken wings came in 4 pairs with each pair cooked perfectly, with a fall-off-the bone texture and a nice balance of sweet and salty flavour from their specialty soy sauce based marinade.

Lastly, a meal at Chicken Up wouldn't be complete without their signature UFO Snow Squid Toppoki ($42++). This is a popular Korean street food consisting of chewy rice cake, tender fish cake and crunchy vegetables, and seasoned with sweet red chilli sauce and beef seasoning then topped with crispy fried whole squid and snow cheese. In addition to that, it comes with sides of creamy corn, deep fried Mandu(Korean dumplings), Kimchi rice, egg custard and a very cheesy dip. It was indeed, a hearty dish but extremely satisfying.
With all of the above, Chicken Up also offers attractive promotions such as University promotions, free flow chicken wings on Sunday to Thursday(6pm to 11pm with their last order at 10.30pm), priced at $15+ for ladies and $20+ for guys.
Kindly head onto their website @ http://www.chicken-up.com/ for their latest news, promotions and full list of menu.
Last but not least, do remember to make your reservations through the Quandoo app or online portal to secure a seat to save your time and to avoid any disappointments.
