Bisou Bake Shop, Bangsar Village

Variety type of cakes

You may think the facade of Bisou Bake Shop reminds you a little of a traditional British setting, where you would sit down for a cup of tea. And you're absolutely right. Its old-fashion charm is a juxtaposition against the modernity of Bangsar Village, but it absolutely works. Bisou Bake Shop has actually been around since 2006 and maintains its allure until today.

In Bisou they serve many different flavours of cupcakes, if you like cupcakes, you certainly don’t want to miss this place. The variety of cupcakes served range from classic flavours to local fusion inspired pieces. Here's what we tried while we were there:

The first cupcake we tried is the Cupkuih cupcake, a combination of gula melaka cake base, filled with coconut and topped with pandan cream cheese frosting. This will certainly remind you of our local traditional Kuih with some unique twists of flavour from the cream cheese. If you are a fan of traditional Malaysian flavours, then you might want to try this Cupkuih.

Next on we tried the carrot cupcake. It's an oldie but a goodie flavour. This was our editor, Sarah's, favourite.

Other than the carrot cake, another favourite for us was their berry madness cupcake. The frosting was super cute and we loved the flavour of this cupcake.

Next, we sampled Bisou's famous Red Velvet cupcake. The cupcake is perfectly moist and made us totally fall in love with red velvet cupcakes all over again.

My favourite out of all the cupcakes was certainly the lemon blueberry cheesecake. The combination of lemon cake base with blueberry cream cheese frosting topped with pie crumbs was very well combined. As we all know, cream cheese can sometimes be kinda filling and we can’t usually finish it, but with the lemon cake base and blueberry combination, it made the cupcake light and easy to consume.

Overall, the experience at Bisou Bake Shop was wonderful. I love how consistent they have managed to keep their cupcakes' texture and consistency throughout the year.

Plus, they have a buy 5 free 1 promotion all year round!
