Beta KL New Menu Launch

Beta KL is always full of surprises and this new version of their menu continues to impress. Our last review there was a glowing one - you can read the full review of Beta KL here.

If you liked the earlier version of their menu, then this is something you would enjoy as well. Their appetisers are decadent bite-sized pieces that are easy to enjoy for anyone.

We tried the turkey with cranberries served with potato, a mushroom tart with local cheese and also a sago puff with salted egg. All were equally delicious and proved to complement each other brilliantly.

Next was a slow-cooked abalone served with scallop tartar with pomelo snow. It was light in flavour, even with the tartar sauce but, it was perfect to complement and enhance the fresh seafood. Definitely a dish that matches the seasons, for both Christmas and Chinese New Year.

Next was the Tiger Prawn Roulade served with torched ginger flower and prawn head aioli. The tiger prawn is cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. Paired with the aioli and topped with white radish, this entire dish was refreshing from start to end.

Following that, we tried their 3 texture of crab dish. This dish was inspired by chilli crab. The first layer was an egg custard, followed by the poached crab and then finished off with the chili crab espuma. If you love crab, this dish will not disappoint.

Then, we moved onto mains. We were serve baked barramundi cooked with candlenut crust served with char-grilled fermented pineapple and poached clam. I must give credit to the char-grilled fermented pineapple, as you can tell the hard work that they have put into getting this down right. The pineapple was fermented over days and char-grilled to keep the juiciness in place. Eat it with baked barramundi and it is a match made in heaven.

To cleanse our palates, we were given a kedongdong asam boi sorbet. This was indeed the perfect palate cleanser that prepared our tastebuds for more mains.

Next, we got to try the beef short-ribs cooked with Sarawak pepper. It may look a little dry from the outside but don’t be fooled by its exterior. On the inside, the beef short ribs proved to be tender and juicy. The perfect consistency for beef short ribs. We were impressed!

Finally, we had their dessert - called the Wishing Tree. It was a white chocolate mousse with passion curd. Definitely suitable for Christmas.

Beta KL cocktail - Hanz Sling | Pandan Gin, Suze, Sweet potato, Lemon, Ginger, Co2

Other than their wonderful dishes, Beta KL also serves interesting cocktails, champagne and wine to pair with your food.

Beta KL cocktail - Malaysia Daiquiri | Curry leaf rum, Banana Liquer, Lime, Brown Sugar

Beta KL cocktail - Pick me up | Chrysanthemum Vodka, St.Germain, Roselle syrup, Lime, Strawberry yogurt, Egg white

During the visit, we were served four different cocktails (Malaysia Daiquiri, Sweet dew, Hanz Sling & Pick me up) one champagne and a red wine each served in between dishes to enhance the gastronomic experience.

These dishes are from their set menu which ranges from RM98 to RM280.
