Bella by BIG Sunday Brunch, Lorong Kurau

Recently, in the midst of the Chinese New Year madness, we went for a quiet brunch at Bella by BIG. It was one of my first few times to Lorong Kurau to eat and my first visit to Bella.

I love it when old shophouses are turned into restaurants like this, because it just has such a vintage charm to it and the layout is often stunning. Bella is no different. It is an eclectic mix of nature and modern interior design without forgetting to keep to its original structure.

Upon entering Bella on a Sunday, you will be welcomed by a generous cold buffet spread with cold cuts, cheeses, couscous salads, other types of salads, samosas and various cold appetisers.

One of our favourite appetisers was their devilled eggs! Loved the filling as it was so creamy and smooth -- just the way I like it.

Of course, no Sunday brunch is complete without a little wine or bubbly to accompany all those amazing cheeses. Though I am typically not a fan of Pinot Gris, this was a very easy accompaniment to most of our dishes during the brunch.

The brunch concept here is such that the "mains" are served dish by dish. A server goes around the restaurant dishing a small tasting portion onto your plate for dishes that you want to try. Personally, I think this is a great way to prevent waste and I LOVED not having to get up from my seat at all to get food.

We tried many mains from the various pasta dishes -- the gnocchi was my favourite -- to heavier meaty dishes and even seafood.

This may not look like much, but their wagyu intercostals is to die for!

Crabs galore! It's any seafood lover's dream to come here and indulge in fresh seafood, served at your table and you get to eat as much as you want! All in all, we sampled 11 mains! One spoonful of each is enough to fill you to the brim.

By the time we got to dessert, we were super stuffed. But we HAD to try the tiramisu, of course. Apart from that, they also offered a lemon meringue dessert, baby apple crumble tarts and baby banoffee tarts, which we had to politely decline because we were too full.

But we did eventually manage to sneak in a couple more macarons -- which were super light and tasty, by the way!

Overall, the Bella by BIG brunch experience is one that everyone should try at least once in their lives. It's an indulgence, for sure. I would recommend doing a brunch party for a bachelorette party or a birthday do. With so many options available, whether you're vegan, or pescatarian or purely carnivorous, this spread has something for everyone.

The brunch menu is only available on Sundays from 12PM-3PM from RM138/pax (without alcohol) and RM238/pax (free flow house pour and bubbly). And kids below 5 eat free!
