Ante Christmas Menu 2018
Our favourite restaurant, Ante is back again with its annual tradition of offering a specialised Christmas menu. This year, Ante One Utama and Ante Publika have elevated its standards in porky goodness by introducing OLIVE PORK.
For the Christmas set (RM320 for 4 pax), you get a delightful chestnut salad with ricotta and raspberry vinaigrette, crispy skin smoked duck with peach salsa and 4 sets of olive pork steaks! This is more than reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food you’re getting in the set.
The crispy skin smoked duck slices have been part of Ante’s a la carte menu since late 2017 but if you’re like me and you’ve totally missed it out, then you’re going to want to get in on that this festive season. The duck pairs stunningly with the peach salsa, giving the dish a very localised flavour. As usual, we cannot fault Ante for its meats - the duck was perfect. The chestnut salad is a refreshing side dish to have in accompaniment to the heavy meats. I enjoyed this immensely. The ricotta cheese is a nice touch, providing varying textures to the dish overall.
Finally, the star of the meal is the olive pork steak. Olive pork is a fairly new type of pork offering in the market. The supply of meat comes directly from Spain and the cut we get to enjoy at Ante is the pork collar. Olive pork is a premium white pork that comes from only female pigs that are fed olive paste, olives and olive oil. The result is more marbling on the white pork meat and ann unmistakably buttery flavour in each bite. The cut I got was a lot thicker than I expected. At 330gm per steak, this is a substantial piece of meat to consume all by yourself - even if you’re a big eater, this might be a challenge to finish! I definitely could tell that the flavour profile for the pork is very different from what we normally have at Ante. I would recommend asking for a thinner cut if possible, to spend less time cutting up the steak into smaller bites. Though the sets don’t come with dessert, Ante has plenty of dessert offerings to choose from. You can be sure to enjoy a delicious festive meal when dining at Ante this Christmas season.
