Mid-Autumn Delights @ Toh Yuen Restaurant, Hilton Petaling Jaya


It is that time of the year again, where the mooncakes come out and families come together.

Mid-Autumn festival is an annual celebration on the 15th day of the 8th month in the Chinese calendar. This year, Mid-Autumn festival falls on September 24.

The festival is about togetherness and reunion, and families would usually share mooncakes among family members and friends during the festival as a show of unity.

At Hilton Petaling Jaya, Toh Yuen Restaurant has launched a new delectable selection of traditional baked mooncakes and snow skin mooncakes.

The traditional baked mooncakes come in nine flavours: White Lotus Paste, White Lotus Paste with Single Yolk, Pandan Paste with Single Yolk, Red Bean Paste with Almond Flakes, Green Tea with Pistachio Nuts, Black Sesame Paste, Pumpkin with Sunflower Seeds, and the signature Mixed Five Nuts and Purple Sweet Potato.

All the traditional baked mooncakes is priced at RM28 nett per piece, except the Mixed Five Nuts and Purple Sweet Potato mooncake that is priced at RM32 nett per piece.

The snow skin mooncakes come in five different flavours: Tiramisu, White Lotus with Sunflower Seed, Purple Sweet Potato, Chocolate Pistachio Indulgence, and Golden Bamboo with Black Sesame Paste.

The Tiramisu and White Lotus snow skin mooncake costs RM25 nett per piece, while the other three snow skin mooncakes cost RM28 nett per piece.

Customers can also choose to purchase an oriental box series that depicts a lady wearing a cheong sam that will contain four traditional baked mooncake or snow skin mooncake flavours. The premium box is priced at RM135 nett, while the standard box is priced at RM110 nett.

Also available until September 24 is Toh Yuen's Mid-Autumn Reunion Set Dinner. The traditional Chinese eight course meal features some of Toh Yuen's signature dishes and costs RM1,388 nett per table of 10 persons.

The set meal starts off with a prosperous four season reunion hot and cold combination, which was very delicious.

It is followed by a double boil Japanese conch abalone with chicken soup.

Diners are then treated to fresh and succulent wok fried Himalayan salted chilli prawns and deep fried garoupa fillets with a silky butter corn sauce.

Next is braised mushroom that is served with abalone and broccoli.

Toh Yuen then serves a delicious egg fried vermicelli noodles with seafood and mushrooms.

It is finished off with a chilled peach resin in dried longan syrup, and a selection of Toh Yuen's signature mooncakes.

All in all, the food served in this Mid-Autumn dinner menu was delicious and fresh. It is the perfect reunion meal to celebrate Mid-Autumn festival with the family.
