Kirin Ichiban x The Table, Lot 10 Kuala Lumpur

Hey all! Want an interesting and exclusive dining experience right in the heart of KL? Don't fret! We've got a recommendation (or five) for you! We were treated like VVIPs last Wednesday night by the great folks from The Table at Lot 10 and Kirin Ichiban, through a night of delicious Japanese cuisine, yukatas, calligraphy, traditional Japanese music and of course, the first ever pressed beer itself, Kirin Ichiban!

We were spoilt and filled to the brim with lovely dishes from five different restaurants at the The Table, but I'll highlight my favourite 4 in this post!

The first being from Touan, serving up Grilled Yellow Tail that was marinated in sweet teriyaki sauce and served on top of a soft daikon radish; and Snow Crab Tamagoyaki, a Japanese rolled omellete topped off with seasoned snow crab. My favourite between the two was definitely the Grilled Yellow Tail because of the combination of the different types of sweetness from the fruity teriyaki marinate and the crisp daikon. I also loved the texture of the grilled fish against the soft but crisp daikon radish.

Next has to be the Scallop Katsu from Tonkatsu Anzu! The breaded scallop was crispy and light on the outside, soft and medium on the inside, with a texture of butter when biting into it! The scallop was rather large in size too. Yum!

The third was the Wagyu Beef Ribs Marbled A5 from Yakiniku Toraji which was marinated in a Toraji's own fruit and vegetable specialty sauce. We had to barbeque our own meat and was told that it's best eaten medium rare (which is of course the best way of eating most beef, in my opinion!). The Wagyu was delicious! We were worried that the marinate might end up being too salty but were pleasantly surprised by how subtle the flavours were. It highlighted the characteristics of the meat as oppose to overpowering it.

The last dish to highlight is the rich and creamy Cheese Cake by The Tokyo Restaurant! FYI, this cheesecake is not the fluffy, airy kind! It's absolutely dense with a sinful amount of creaminess. Its not too sweet either, which was a plus! It was so decadent and concluded our night with utter perfection!

Definitely check out The Table in Isetan, Lot 10 when you're in the mood to indulge in Japanese cuisine! And grab a pint of Kirin Ichiban while you're at it.
