Saboten, 100AM & Millenia Walk

Saboten launches its first ever Bar Menu! Savour their delicious bar bites while sipping on their Sakes and wine after a tiring day at work.

The new bar menu is only available at its 100AM and Millenia Walk outlets. Of course, the bar menu is also great to enjoy over a quiet dinner.

For something to whet the appetite as a starter is the tako wasabi, which is served as some freshly slices cucumber sticks and moromi (bean) miso.

Another great starter to kickstart a meal is their Smoked Black pepper duck slices. Pair this with a glass of Pinot Grigio or Saboten's recommended Sake which is Kubota Senjyu Ginjyo, and the combination is such a treat.

For every 3 appetisers you order, Saboten will choose a shot of beer for you to enjoy your meal with. What we got to try was the Rising Sun Pale Ale, a great pairing for the appetisers we tried. It had a slight citrusy taste and was quite light.

Any sort of fried food would go well with beer, but Saboten has gone out of its way to bring its diners the most addictive pumpkin fries known to man ($5). One bite will never be enough!

The beer that we paired with the fried food is the Shuzenyi Heritage Helles, which carried a slightly stronger taste than the first one and a great lead into the mains.

But if you're more of a wine person, then the suggested wine pairing for the profile of the food is a dry Shiraz, and for sake, you would best try the Ginrei Gassen Junmai.

For grilled bar bites, we tried the Ebi Mentai, Teriyaki Chicken and Saba Shio. The Ebi Mentai was actually presented in super cute way with the filling nicely nestled in the prawn shells but beyond presentation, the dish tasted really good too!

I tried the Sauvignon Blanc pairing for the grilled food and indeed, it does pair well. If you're not a fan of this wine, there's another choice of the Cabernet Savignon. Sake recommended would be the Sirakami Junmai.

The beer pairing for the grilled items would be the Single take Session Ale (left) or the Kurofume Porter (right).

The Kurofume Porter has an aftertaste of coffee and perfect to drink right before consuming dessert as it doesn't have a very sweet taste to it, lending you a clean palate to lace with sweet treats.

You will need that clean palate to fully enjoy the chocolate haven dessert. The dessert was the perfect way to end the meal.
