Meet & Bun, Perth

Tucked comfortably in the underground Trinity Arcade mall hails a sweet menu that guarantee a happy meal! Meet the selection of charming burgers, cheesy french fries and flashy shakes that will get the town talking!

What's even better is that the chefs claim to have no secret ingredients in their burgers but just about the best brioche buns, paired with the freshest local produce in WA!

I have personally followed Meet and Bun on their Instagram page, way before they even opened the outlet along St. Georges Terrace in 2016. This is simply because the idea of having so much effort and thought being put into a business always fascinates me. Let me explain why.

When I walked towards the outlet on a chilly Friday afternoon, I was greeted by this playful flash sign that said "Milkshake it baby", tagged with all the attractive flavours offered for only $7. Black Forrest, Nutella, Salted Caramel and Cookies and Cream were amongst the flavours that were calling out to me. And so I ended up ordering two milkshakes for myself from the extremely courteous and friendly staff.... in winter...because #YOLO (You only live once).

As I slurped on my milkshakes that were as amazing as they looked, we studied the burger menu. A smile pasted on our lips, when we saw the names of these bad boys. Breaking Bad, Ari Gold, Chilli Chilli Bang Bang, Danny's Southern Fried Chicken, and my favourite one of all, the Big Daddy. Naturally, we opted for the Big Daddy ($16).

This package included local organic beef patty, onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato, double smoked bacon, garnished with chipotle mayo and wedged between a set of cushy brioche buns. It tasted different, although familiar ingredients were used. All the components made the dish excel in style. We were invited into their kitchen for a very exclusive three minute sneak peak of what goes on behind-the-scenes. The smell in the kitchen could make me content, the amount of detail and care handled with pride by the staff was commendable.

We were back at the table waiting for the rest of our burgers to arrive. The chef brought out some Original Cheesy Fries ($4.50). We liked that they were not too oily, and unlike the regular fast food stores, the fries were topped with a pinch of Himalayan salt. This allowed us to be able to appreciate the taste of the potato and cheese blend better.

The remaining burgers arrived not long after, and we smelled the smokey bacon flavour right through the wrapper. I had the Breaking Bad ($14), and if I had to label the burger, this would basically be the son of Big Daddy. It had all the same ingredients except with a single serving of bacon instead of double. Nevertheless, it was super satisfying and definitely a crowd-pleaser.

My friend had the Fairfax ($10), which was loaded with scrambled eggs, chives, onions, avocado, brioche bun and a bunch of other delights. Perfect for a light meal, perhaps the ideal breakfast pick?

Another friend had the Chilli Chilli Bang Bang ($13), which he dubbed the "stand out" burger. When asked why, (at the time he was licking his fingers), he simply said, "Everything about it fantastic, from the jalapeno's to the pink juicy grilled beef burgers, and the bun is phenomenal".

If you asked me what my favourite burger joint in Perth city is, I will answer you by bringing you to Meet and Bun with the best. Or if you're too busy because of work, I would order them straight to your desk/doorstep via Uber Eats.
