Inver Restaurant, Inver

I've been following Inver Restaurant on Instagram for months now and have had many great recommendations from friends about how amazing this restaurant is. So guess what? My friend and I drove two hours to Inver from Glasgow to eat the delicious food they had to offer and we regret nothing!!! I would go again in a heartbeat!

Inver Restaurant is a humble restaurant located in a remote area called Inver, next to Loch Fyne. The easiest way to get there is definitely by car but if you're adventurous, cycling is an option too. Just a note/tip, the junction to turn into to arrive at the restaurant can easily be missed because the signs aren't super obvious and it would lead you to a small road too, but keep a proper lookout and you won't get lost!

At the restaurant, you have a beautiful view of the Stratchur Castle while you dine!

So for lunch, my friend and I ordered 3 starters, 2 sides, a main, 2 desserts, 2 soft drinks and 2 coffees.

For starters, we got Inver's Cured Beef with Blackcurrants, Roast Corn Cob Broth with Razor Clams and Burnt Garlic, and Confit Mackerel with Creamed Corn and Nectarine.

First of, everything was a treat for your eyes! So beautifully presented and colourful. The cured beef was very soft, buttery and was married well with the blackcurrants. The broth was light, colourful and flavourful, with razor clams that were cooked to perfection! And the confit mackerel was very interesting in flavour and texture. Out of the 3, my favourite was the broth!

For mains, we had the Halibut, Tomatoes and Samphire with Smokey Mussel Butter. This was divine! That smokey mussel butter added just a lovely taste to the succulent piece of gigha halibut! Again, beautifully presented and tastes equally as amazing as it looks. We also ordered some bread and Kate's Leaf Salad for sides. The salad was filled with vegetables, herbs and flowers, probably freshly picked because it was all so earthy and fragrant!

Not forgetting the soda drink that we ordered. It's called a Shrub Drink and it's made with some vinegar and pea juice. It's very peculiar because you would never imagine such flavours to be paired to make a soft drink! At first you taste the vinegar but it then evolves into something sweet. Very odd but I loved it!

Finally, for dessert, we ordered Rum Baba, Cherries and Meadowsweet Custard which is a dessert infused with aged rum and some booze-y cherries! I'm not a big cherry fan but this did not taste like cough medicine, I can guarantee you. It was in fact very light, fluffy and a good amount of sweetness! It was the cherry on top of a gorgeous lunch!

My friend and I stayed a bit longer to chat over coffee in their comfy sofa area near the bar. It was so cozy and warm, it almost felt like home! We then went for a quick walk to the castle to enjoy the view before heading back to Glasgow.

Altogether, the bill came up to a hefty £45 per person, the food was amazing, fresh and locally sourced, presented beautifully and between the two of us, we DID order quite a lot of dishes so heck, £45 seems worth it to me!

Inver Restaurant, although a 2 hour drive from Glasgow, is most definitely worth the time and money to go to! The food was incredible, the service was great and the location is in a very beautiful remote Scottish area. Maybe plan a weekend trip over to Inver for the food at Inver Restaurant and for sight seeing as well? I'd recommend it for sure!
