The Bird Southern Table and Bar, Marina Bay Sands

We were recently in Singapore for the Marina Bay Sands Epicurean Market 2017 but we also had the opportunity to try some of the restaurants in Marina Bay Sands, like The Bird Southern Table and Bar. If it's one thing about Southern food that I absolutely love, is its comfort factor. Every time I have dined at a Southern cuisine establishment, I have always felt at home. The experience I had at The Bird was no different.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a lettuce and mango salad as well as a fried green tomato BLT. The mango salad was surprisingly refreshing and sweet, while many of us dining agreed that the BLT was amazing. I did not expect the BLT to pack the punch it did. For starters, we were also given devilled eggs with smoked trout roe, which was absolutely delicious.

For mains, we were presented with the most comforting of comfort foods -- like the Macaroni and Cheese, which I couldn't get enough of!

And of course, we had to try their chicken and watermelon and waffle. What a combination! The waffles were lovely -- super crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. We also loved the fried chicken.

Just as we were letting our hearty lunch settle, we were presented with dessert! We got to try both their creme brulee as well as their banana pudding. If you are coming to The Bird to eat and are presented with these choices, for the love of everything good and sweet in the world, please pick both.

I loved the banana pudding for its comfort factor. Yes, comfort really is the overriding theme here. But I was blown away by the creme brulee which had a pleasant caffeinated kick to it.

The next time I am at Marina Bay Sands, I would not hesitate to drop by The Bird for another meal -- especially on cheat days!
