Ramen Champion @ Clarke Quay Central, Singapore

Most of you have probably heard of Ramen Champion in Bugis+, but did you know that they opened up a new joint over at Central in Clarke Quay?

The best part is, this new place boasts a sit down restaurant concept. So, unlike the Bugis+ outlet, you won't have to get up to place your order. A big yeay for clumsy people like me, so I won't end up spilling my bowl of piping hot ramen all over myself while bringing it to my table.

All the popular Japanese ramen brands will also be available to you in this new outlet and of course more!

And with just a $4 top-up with any order of a main course, you'd get to enjoy the exclusive free-flow salad bar that features a huge array of fresh greens, salads and even some desserts.

Among the salads, the potato salad was my favourite and for those of you who love mentaiko, be sure to have a taste of the mentaiko potato salad!

It even comes with all sorts of salad dressings and toppings!

Apart from the usual ramen in Bugis+ that are also served here, there are some new dishes exclusive to only this outlet in Clarke Quay Central.

For starters, we tried the Mentai Gyoza ($6.80). Really, how can you ever go wrong with gyoza? And with a generous amount of mentaiko and mayo on the top, who could resist?!

One of the new mains is the Special Tonkotsu Pink Ramen ($15.80). Yes, the broth is pink! Aesthetically, I loved that the pink broth matched my nails that night.

Taste wise, I thought the broth was exactly how I loved my ramen broth to be like, with a strong porky flavour. The eye-catching hue of the broth comes from infusing fresh beetroot and blueberries (superfruits ftw). You don't really taste any of these in the broth but it does add to the nutritional properties of this dish.

Next, we tried another one of Ramen Champion's new dish, the Salmon Tower Maki ($21.80). This dish is overloaded with fresh salmon sashimi, a real value for money with the amount of sashimi served here, I must say! The maki beneath the sashimi however was a little disappointing as I felt that the rice was a too soft and wet, easily crumbling as I tried to grip with my chopsticks.

Bringing a new twist to the Chirashi Don, Ramen Champion introduces the Fisherman Don ($21.80). This dish is somewhat similar a typical Chirashi Don with fresh sashimi perched on top of warm Japanese rice, but it comes with a blended sauce of miso, wasabi and soy sauce on the side to add in. And when you're done with half the bowl, you're recommended to mix in the hot dashi soup made from bonito and kombu for the perfect way to end your main course.

Did we also mention that the sashimi here are super fresh? They're all air-flown from Japan's famous Tsukiji Market. Only the best of the best are found there!

For those of you who are looking to challenge yourselves and see how well you can hold spicy food, the Magma Ramen ($14.80) will help you test your taste buds. Made with six different kinds of spices, this fire-breathing dish is bound to be a sweat-inducing affair.

The spicy level for this dish goes up to level 20! And for someone who can handle her spice, I was already sweating at level 5, I can't bear to imagine how spicy the level 20 would be and how my ears would be ringing after just a few bites.

Finally to end the night (and calm the flames on my tongue), I head back to the salad bar to grab some of their dessert, which included Almond Pudding with Mango and Houjicha Pudding with Matcha.

Although the dessert selection was only limited to the two puddings, I quickly found myself reaching out for more of the Houjicha Pudding with Matcha. I loved how this pudding had a nice roasted tea flavour and how the matcha accompanied it so well.
