Signature@The Roof x Perrier-Jouët

It is not every day we are indulged by good food and champagne on the top floor of a high-rise building.

I was definitely pampered with two champagne variations from Perrier-Jouët that was paired with Signature @The Roof's latest menu.

To mark this special evening, The Roof transformed itself from its usual trendy gastro-lounge to a botanical wonderland, drawing inspiration from Perrier-Jouët's classy Japanese anemone design that is featured on its bottles.

The dainty Japnese anemone flower is the perfect symbol for the champagne maker, as both champagnes we tasted were floral and delicate in flavour.

Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut was my personal favourite. It is flavoursome and well-balanced, and can be enjoyed on its own or with a meal.

Signature paired the Grand Brut with a tasting of five of its new starters - an Oyster Shooter, Garlic Prawns, Otak Otak Dumpling, Mushroom Salad and Mushroom Soup.

The Oyster Shooter stood out to me. The oyster was fresh and well shucked, sliding easily into your mouth. It is then followed by a shot of Signature's version of a Bloody Mary, which is bloody delicious!

I loved the tanginess and spiciness the shooter provided, and it complimented the oyster well.

The Otak Otak Dumpling was another intriguing starter. The otak otak was not overwhelmingly fishy, like some are, and was very well balanced with the spices. I loved the crunch the dumpling gave too!

The Mushroom Soup was a favourite among my table-mates. It is one of my favourite soups, and Signature prepared this classic soup well! I simply loved the combination of mushrooms and cream, it was simply divine!

The Garlic Prawns were fresh, flavoursome and well cooked. The flavours were restrained to highlight the freshness of the prawns, which I approve of.

Unfortunately, the Mushroom Salad was a bit of a let down in comparison to the other starters. I just felt it was a bit plain. Perhaps it could do with more textures or bolder flavours.

For the mains, we were treated to four of Signature's new offerings - the Flying Tandoor Chicken Pasta, Lamb Rack, Chicken Rice Ball and Barramundi.

I loved ALL of these mains! But the standout was definitely the Chicken Rice Ball.

The rice was flavoured beautifully with the ginger and the chicken in the middle was soft and perfectly cooked. I don't know how they did it, but they did it well! It is such a unique dish, and you can't help but to smile as you cut into that rice ball and see the chicken snugly nestled there!

The Lamb Rack was another favourite of mine, it was cooked perfectly with it still pink in the middle. The lamb was soft, easy to cut, and oh-so-tender. The pistachio crust provided a lovely textural element and great flavour too! It was one of the better lamb racks I've had in Klang Valley!

The Barramundi was also another perfectly cooked dish. It is one of my favourite fish choices, and it was simply delicious.

The Flying Tandoor Chicken Pasta was another special dish that fuses the East and the West. The spices in the pasta sauce works were flavoursome and yummy, and I must say that it is a fusion dish that works.

The Grand Brut champagne complimented all the the starters and mains, telling me that it goes well with bold flavours and spices. It goes perfectly with Asian or fusion cuisine!

For dessert, we were given the Perrier-Jouët Blason Rosé which is a bit more intense and less sweet than the Grand Brut. However, it featured a more fruity fragrance than the Grand Brut.

Because it is less sweet, it is paired perfectly with our sweet endings to the meal. We were given a selection of Chocolate Brownie, Red Velvet and Lychee Cheese Tart.

The Red Velvet and Chocolate Brownie were moist and rich. While, the Lychee Cheese Tart was more delicate in flavour. I loved the tart and cheese filling, however, I wasn't too sure about the lychee. I would have preferred a more tart fruit, but that might just be me!

The degustation menu was indulgent and filling, and I certainly left Signature full and happy! Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut or Perrier-Jouët Blason Rosé is available at Signature The Roof at RM118++ and RM350++.
