Neroteca, Bukit Ceylon

Every once in a while, you'll stumble upon an F&B establishment that will completely blow your mind. We did, and it's none other than Neroteca @ Bukit Ceylon, Kuala Lumpur. Tucked within the Seri Bukit Ceylon Residence, Neroteca is a charming little Italian restaurant with a warm and cosy ambiance. I wouldn't call it fine dining as it feels more like a place of comfort to feast on hearty and delicious Italian cuisine.

You will be spoilt for choice as they have a wide range starters, mains and even desserts to choose from.
Starting off our meal, we sampled their Deli Neroteca (RM117), a platter comprising of an assortment of cold cuts and cheese accompanied with antipasti and schiacciata. I really enjoyed the chorizo pork sausages as its spiciness go so well against the flavours from the rest of the dish. Superb starter, if I do say so myself.

The Frittura De Pesce (RM41) is an amazing concoction of deep-fried prawn, squid, fish and white bait, served with tuna, fried zucchini and lemon to top it all off. Everything was crispy and fried to perfection. Perfect beer food for all you seafood lovers out there.

Before we moved on to the mains, chef chose a soup for us to cleanse our palate. We tried the Lenticchie E Salsiccia (RM28), which is basically a lentil soup. The soup contains pork sausages and topped with semi-dried tomatoes, parmesan cheese & extra virgin olive oil.

The first main we had was the Rigatoni Broccoli & Salsiccia (RM49). The pasta is brimming with hearty ingredients such as pork sausages, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, white wine, anchovies, chili & pecorino cheese to give it that distinct burst of Italian herb flavour. The highlight of the dish was the salsiccia or sliced pork sausages that was extremely delicious and compliments the rigatoni well.

Next up was the Porchetta (RM52), served with baby potatoes and salad. A traditional Italian dish that is reminiscent of the local Chinese roast pork, this is a stuffed boneless pork dish that will fill up any hungry tummy. Perfect for pork lovers with extra room left in their tummies as the portion is sizeable. The roast pork is deliciously seasoned, however the texture was a little on the dry side; we felt it could have been a little bit more moist.

During the meal, we were also served their house red - the Gran Sasso Montepulciano D'Abruzzo - a full bodied red wine with an intense bouquet and well-balanced flavour that complimented the mains perfectly, thanks to the chef's recommendation.

For dessert, we sampled an assortment of desserts from their Dolci section namely the Classic Tiramisu (RM25), Panna Cotta (RM25) and Creme Brulee (RM23) with a side of ice cream. My personal favourite was the creme brulee, given my sweet tooth.
Overall, we truly enjoyed the experience here at Neroteca @ Bukit Ceylon. A definite must-go if you're looking for an authentic Italian dining experience that is a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of the KL golden triangle.
