Sawasdee, Patong Beach Phuket

We dropped by Phuket for a quick day-trip in the middle of a work week (the joys of being a nomadic digital marketer) and decided to just have lunch on the island before heading back out to sea. The restaurant we chanced upon was Sawasdee - the staff seemed friendliest and made the most effort to draw us in the restaurant.

As per typical Thailand trips, we donned our flip flops, beach wear and walked up and down the boardwalk of the beach till we were hungry enough to eat. The first thing we did upon sitting down was to order a nice cold thai iced tea. It was a toss up between that and a fresh coconut but my cravings for artificial sweetness won.

Surprisingly, though, the thai iced milk tea here was not too sweet and they even put a pretty orchid in my drink.

I don't typically order fried calamari at Thai restaurants - what with the variety of offerings they have. But Tim wanted to give it a shot. No regrets! This fried calamari was cooked perfectly and the coating was super crunchy. The best part of the dish was the homemade Thai chilli sauce that was really zesty!

We also ordered one of my favourite dishes at Thai restaurants - a Thai fried omelette. Though this was not as fluffy as some omelettes, the taste was spot on. I normally order the pork version but this restaurant is pork-free, making it a popular spot for some Muslim customers!

The star of meal had to be the pineapple fried rice, which blew us away with its 10/10 seasoning and just look at that presentation! This is a perfect portion for two.

So be sure to check them out if you're ever at Patong Beach!
