PizzaExpress, Scotts Square
PizzaExpress is known for their special Dough Balls, which we heard were all the rage. So we went down to check out what the fuss was all about.

We started out with the Christmas Dough Balls ($6), which comes with black truffle dip (yaaaasss), cranberry chutney and garlic butter. The balls had a soft, yet crispy skin but the inside was nice and fluffy. The black truffle dip was very light on the palate, but of course, carried the distinct truffle fragrance. The cranberry chutney was a blend of sweet and savoury, and had a slight hint of spiciness.

For the mains, we were recommended to try the Carbonara Pizza ($29), especially when the truffle toppings were only available during Christmas season. The dough was a light thin crust. We felt it was not too cheesy, and had the right balance of garlic oil and bacon. The egg in the center was the perfect touch to complete the whole carbonara experience.

Thereafter, we had a go at the Snowball Dough Balls ($5). The dough balls were similar to the Christmas Dough Balls, except sprinkled with cinnamon and icing sugar, and came with a vanilla cream dip which was nice and custard-y.

Lastly, we finished with a Mulled Winter Fruit Crumble ($10). The highlight of it was the fruit compote, bathed in crème anglaise, and to create additional texture, the juicy compote is topped with a buttery crumble.

Of course, we would recommend getting a glass of their La Contesse Prosecco Brut ($11), which is not too sweet and yet not too dry, making it the perfect wine to go with all the dishes.
