Oberstrasse, Lavender

It was a lazy Saturday afternoon and I was craving a good brunch. So I decided to head to this cafe located in Lavender. If you’re looking for one of the best places for brunch in Singapore, look no further than Oberstrasse.

Oberstrasse is located in Kitchener Complex, just behind Lavender MRT (V Hotel exit). They’re known for their yummy German/Swiss style food and affordable prices.

I started with a side of luncheon fries ($5.50). It was the epitome of sinful. I couldn’t stop eating it. What’s a good brunch without some porky goodness, amiright?

Then, to add on to my already sinful lunch, I had the Bernese rosti ($13). Fried rosti – crispy on the outside and soft on the inside – served with a sunny side up egg and my all time favourite – bacon!

Everything was just perfect with the generous dollop of sour cream and accompanying lemon to squeeze over the dish.

To top it all off, I also indulged in the buttermilk waffles ($8.50). The waffle was perfectly done – crispy on the outside and soft on the inside at the same time.

I love my waffles plain, with just butter and maple syrup, meaning the waffle batter would have to be hella good for me to enjoy it because it wouldn’t be masked by other flavours. And I have to say… This is undoubtedly one of the best waffles I have ever had.

Oberstrasse serves a collection of premium Gryphon tea ($5). I had the lemon ginger mint, which I thought gave a refreshing touch to my very sinful brunch.

This will always be one of my go-to places for comfort food. They’ve maintained their top quality standard for food here and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here if I’m looking to have brunch that’s more on the heavy side.
