Whisk & Paddle, Tebing Lane

It's still considered one of the more ulu locations in Singapore, perhaps for its inaccessibility. But otherwise, Tebing Lane at Punggol is starting to see several eateries and establishments popping up in its small 'island'. One of which include famous fast food chain, Popeyes. But we went to this secluded lifestyle nook for Whisk & Paddle. It faces the Punggol Waterway and is your typical hipster vintage-inspired cafe that serves up brunch, pastries and desserts.

Opt for the outdoor seatings because the view makes it a fantastic location for date nights.

We ordered an Ice Flavoured Mocha Latte ($7.50) topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with cocoa powder. Though there was a tad too much milk for the iced mocha, which may have overpowered the flavour of the chocolate, it was still quite a pleasant drink to have on a warm evening. However, the other drink, Iced Toffee Nut Flavoured Latte ($7.50) proved to be more interesting. We were given a bottle of cold milk and toffee nut chocolate in another cup. We tasted the latte after allowing some time for the toffee nut to melt and all we can say is, wow.

We were intrigued by Instagram posts we had seen of their Lotus Root Chips with Truffle Mayo ($10.80), so we decided to give it a try. Categorised under Bar Bites in their menu, the chips certainly complement cocktails or beer. We must say, the chips impressed us! It was crispy and thin, although some were slightly overcooked. The truffle mayo dip was tangy in a good way. But we could not stop reaching for the chips to munch on while waiting for the mains to be served.

Our first main course to arrive was the Mushroom Aglio Olio ($13.80). This dish is an aglio olio styled spaghetti cooked with mushrooms, chilli padi, garlic, with italian parsley and parmesan cheese garnish. The combined smell of mushrooms and cheese made the dish incredibly fragrant.

Another main course that seemed to be a must-try is their Macaroni & Cheese ($13.80). Served in a metal pan, this dish consists of macaroni, diced honey baked ham and onions baked in pink sauce and mozzarella cheese. Pink sauce? Yes, please.

Whisk & Paddle provides a peaceful, and for some, a romantic setting for the diners. This cafe is family friendly as they have a kids corner. However, if it is one thing we would like to see improved here, it would be their service.
