This small neighbourhood bakery has been open since 2014. It is tucked away in a cosy lane facing the Singapore river. Velvet Confectionery is opened by Aniqa Zaman and it boasts a ten cupcake flavours at any given time and their house specialties - red velvet and chocolate truffle brownies. Cake slices are also available here in classic favourites like carrot cake and of course, the universally worshipped Nutella.

The cafe is a great place to sit back and relax while you read a book as it is located in a quiet part of town. Enjoy the cakes with a coffee or tea and the staff will attend to all your needs.

The cupcakes look gorgeous and are presented beautifully on individual cupcake stands, which make for gorgeous photos (as pictured above). The two cupcakes that we were recommended to try were the summer berry vanilla cupcake and the salted caramel chocolate cupcake. Each were good in its own way but I enjoyed the chocolate one better, as I have a strong bias towards chocolate. The crunchy pretzel biscuit on top also added to my overall enjoyment of the cupcake.
