A visit to the Asian Civilisations Museum is a great way to learn about the history of our own country in trade and culture. But a walkthrough the permanent exhibition and learning so much about the history of our civilisation can work up a decent appetite. Or even if you want to fuel up before heading into an exhibition... Which is why Prive at ACM is such a strategic location for the chain of restaurants. Its first outlet is the popular one at Keppel Bay, frequented by many. But now that it is open in both ACM and in Clarke Quay as well as another outlet in Chijmes, there is plenty of choice for the diners.

Al fresco dining is a signature of Prive's and the laid back lounge feel to the cafe makes it a favourite haunt for the brunch crowd.

The decor at Prive at ACM reflects a very Asian feel - it is almost like a modern day twist on a traditional coffee shop from yesteryear. The wood and turquoise interior is charming and will perhaps, evoke a sense of nostalgia in diners.

Desserts and cakes are aplenty on display, but for even more options, there is a selection of desserts made in-house.

Since brunch is a popular meal among the crowd here, dishes like eggs Benedict ($16), ultimate signature breakfast ($20) and buttermilk pancakes ($12) are available. We tried the eggs Benedict, with its perfect runny yolk oozing out all over the almost inch-thick bacon and a slice of ham on top of a muffin. And of course, rocket on the side.

Light eaters could probably go for the Caesar salad ($13) with a soft-centered egg.

But to go full healthy, the masala chicken breast wrap is the best option. With its fresh salsa, grilled chicken and plenty of vegetables, it is a healthy but incredibly delicious option. Just swap out the chips for more salad and it'll fit into any diet plan (unless your diet is not eating at all...).

Prive at Asian Civilisations Museum has a unique menu, putting local and other Asian twists into classic dishes. Over here, you can find burgers like bulgogi burger ($25), an otak otak ciabatta ($17 - and it comes with kaffir mayonnaise <3), as well as the rendang beef burger ($25), which we got to try.

The beef is so tender and the rendang taste is unmistakable. The double beef patty makes it worth it and is juicy from start to end. The buns are also fluffy and the overall dish is well-seasoned.

For those seeking non-localised dishes, a mushroom alfredo linguine ($18) is a great option and even caters to the vegetarian crowd. The creamy mushroom alfredo sauce generously coats the linguine and with so many mushrooms, you could have an entire piece of mushroom per forkful of pasta.

Presentation is outstanding at Prive @ACM. The outdoor seating overlooks the Singapore river and at night, the place lights up to a warm, welcoming glow.

But before you head off into the sunset (or maybe just back home for a nap after having devoured so much food), desserts are a must. While the day is young and the appetites are still roaring to go, try Prive's sticky date pudding ($12) with homemade butterscotch, walnuts and vanilla bean ice cream. The sticky date pudding carries the natural sweetness of the dates and is a soft, gooey texture on the inside. Served warm, it goes well with the contrast icy coldness of the ice cream.

But for the Instagram-lovers out there, the best dish to order is their ice cream sandwich ($14). It is an upscale version of the kind of ice cream sandwich you would get from the ice cream man selling it from the back of his motorbike. The brioche is soft and fluffy but manages to carry the weight of the dense vanilla ice cream and strawberries. The powdered sugar and chocolate syrup only add to the sinful nature of this dessert but it makes for one hell of a picture (and dish!).
