Nestled on the second floor along the busy street of Jalan Burhanuddin Helmi is Foo Foo Fine Desserts. It is the perfect place to catch a brief respite from the rush of things, especially when you’ve had a tough week and all you want to do is unwind with a gastronomic experience. Dessert lovers will find refuge easily in the newly opened establishment.
It is open from 3pm on weekdays and 2pm on weekends, making it the go-to place after a hearty Sunday brunch. Sit by the window to people (and car) watch while you enjoy beautifully plated desserts otherwise only found in fancy restaurants.
Pick from the wide range of desserts that include classics like the bombe Alaska (RM25) and profiteroles (RM22) to creative creations like passionfruit pavlova with lime chantilly (RM23) and masala spiced red wine poached pear with rose petal ice cream and a walnut Tuile (RM29). Some of the desserts contain alcohol. ;) Should you want one of their chef's birthday cakes (8"), either in strawberry coconut daquoise or mascarpone chocolate mousse (RM170), 3 days notice is required.
I tried the bombe Alaska - which is gingerbread topped off with lemongrass ice cream and coated in a browned merengue. Over here, they set the dessert alight with rum. If you're eating this on an empty stomach, you'll feel nice and warm once it settles. The rum may come off rather strongly, so I wouldn't recommend non-drinkers to attempt this dessert.

I also tried the crispy profiteroles (RM22) with salted caramel coffee ice cream. Based off the posts I've been seeing on Instagram, it is obvious that this is a crowd favorite and it isn't hard to see why. The crispy profiteroles sit on top a slice of grilled orange and the salted caramel coffee is a great match for the dessert. I noted a hint of coconut in the dish and later on confirmed that with the founder.

Something lighter and "healthier" would be the mango lychee ice cream slice with fruit salsa (RM22), which is a refreshing dessert.

Even the ice cream flavours at Foo Foo Fine Desserts is beyond our comfort zones with interesting concoctions like balsamic vinegar, spicy chocolate and Kaffir lime (RM9 per scoop). All the ice creams are made in-house with natural ingredients.
There are tons of tea flavours and the menu even suggests that one should refer to a staff members for recommendations on which types of tea to pair with the desserts. If not, Foo Foo's coffees are also good for pairing with their desserts.

Though I didn't manage to try quite as many desserts on the menu as I hoped to, I will be back to try the funky ice cream flavors soon.
