Fifth Palate, Kota Damansara

I love trying new brunch places, especially if the menu deviates from the usual brunch stuff like big breakfasts, poached eggs and pancakes.

I heard about Fifth Palate through a friend and really wanted to try it. But the first time I tried heading over, they were closed. Thankfully, when I decided to go again on a Friday afternoon, they were open and it wasn't too crowded yet.

One of the things I was most excited about trying was their homemade wheatgrass yogurt. I often look forward to Moo Cow's wheatgrass flavour of the season, but it comes far and few between. So now, I can have wheatgrass yogurt whenever I want!

Of course, they have traditional drinks to start off with like a latte, which is milky and smooth and the coffee tastes great.

So, one of the dishes that drew me to this place is the ramen. There are few purely Japanese restaurants that offer good ramen, but Fifth Palate's rendition of a ramen is comforting and hearty.

For a meat-heavy option, brunch-goers should try their chicken breast. But they had run out of it that day and it was substituted with the thigh. It was still very tender and the meat just fell off the bone.

But what had to be the favourite of the meal was their baked eggs. Firstly, it was served in a really cute small pot - 10 points for presentation. Secondly, it is so flavourful and unique from others I have tried around the Klang Valley that I have to give the chef props for this original recipe.
