For those who enjoy a tipple, I’ve got good news. 1855 The Bottle Shop is hosting their 5th Wine and Whiskey Week. Happening from the 16th to the 27th of May at Suntec East Atrium Level 1, peruse through more than 500 labels of wine, whiskey and other spirits at attractive prices.

And if you aren’t too familiar with your wine or spirits, over 100 labels will be available for you to try, just make sure you don’t arrive on an empty stomach!

Here are some of my favourite labels you should be looking out for.

Making its debut in Singapore and available exclusively at 1855 The Bottle Shop is up and coming winery Viña Vik from Chile. La Piu Belle 2011 (retail price $88) which means “the most beautiful” has a gorgeous and unique bottle. I usually love my reds with a heavier body, so this was right up my alley. Initial scent was grappy and sweet, but has a spicy and peppery undertone. It might be on the heavier side but was still easy to drink.

For something a bit more fancy, Château Gruaud Larose 1998 (retail price $198) is the kind of wine to be appreciated slowly. I love how incredibly smooth it was but still rich in flavour. Slightly tangy with a herbaceous undertone, this is the kind of wine you break out on special occasions.

Call me an old soul, but I do love my whiskeies. Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare (retail price $518) is a special releases that blends irreplaceable whiskies from “ghost” Scotch whisky distilleries that have long since closed and other rare malt and grain whiskies. This premium bottle of elixir was wonderfully smooth with a hint of sweetness, notes of hazelnut and dark chocolate with a smoky finish. It was just divine.
