Golden Valley, Melawati Mall

We were recently invited to Golden Valley at Melawati Mall. The last visit we had to Golden Valley, the restaurant was still located in TTDI. But that outlet has since closed down and it now only has one outlet in Melawati Mall. Sporting a similar interior, the restaurant is bright, well-decorated and welcoming. It looks like a classic Chinese restaurant, feels like a Chinese restaurant, but the best part of this Chinese restaurant is that it is pork-free! Not only so - but t

Qi House of Sichuan, Marina Bay Financial Centre

Have you ever wondered what an active volcano would be like at the tip of your tongue? A hot fiery adventure awaits you at Qi, House of Sichuan! Qi has opened in the middle of the CBD area, right at the Marina Bay Financial Centre. Located conveniently beside its "sister" restaurant Forbidden Duck which we've just visited recently, Qi has its roots in Wan Chai, Hong Kong for over 3 years. (If you're curious about Forbidden Duck, you may click this link here.) Qi has cumul

Celebrate the Lunar New Year at Changi Airport

Some might associate airports with goodbyes, but I think that it’s also a place of reunions. It’s more and more common for family members to be overseas these days, whether it’s for school or work, so a reunion dinner at Changi Airport seems really appropriate. The four major Chinese restaurants at Changi Airport has a bountiful spread to make your reunion with those traveling back home for the Lunar New Year a special one. Here are some of my favourites Dian Xiao Er, Paradis

Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant, Quality Hotel

Vegetarians out there, rejoice! Here's a place for you to have a great reunion dinner this Chinese New Year. I’ve been to their franchise outlet, Lotus Kitchen and have been thoroughly impressed by dishes that are comparable to non-vegetarian dishes! When Lotus Vegetarian launched their Lunar New Year set menus -- that caters four to ten pax (from $188++) -- I just had to try their mouth-watering dishes. As tradition, we started of with a Yu Sheng, with the usual sliced salmo

WOK°15 Kitchen, ONE°15 Marina

WOK°15 Kitchen is located at one of the most prestigious places in Singapore and you know you are bound for a treat here. Especially, with fleets of yachts parked just outside of where you are eating. We had an amazing series of food prepared for us, let's have a look at what WOK°15 Kitchen has to offer its guests. The Chilled Cumcumber with Garlic was a good start to the whole experience. Elements of cool and spicy were in play to kick start your palate for the rest of the d

Li, Damansara Jaya

What I like about many of these new hipster places popping up here and there in the Klang Valley is that quite a number of them are opened by very young entrepreneurs. Li at Damansara Jaya is one of such establishments. Opened by 3 budding entrepreneurs and chefs about a year ago, this casual dining place has fast grown into one of the most interesting cafes around. Li means power or strength or effort in Mandarin and you can see that much effort has been put into the place.

Royal Canton, DC Mall

If it is something that Damansara Heights is really lacking, it is a good Chinese restaurant. Canton Fare had been a staple, but they closed and reopened as Royal Canton in DC Mall. We were relieved to find our favourite neighbourhood Chinese restaurant back in action and better than ever! It was pretty crowded for a Monday evening - a rainy evening nonetheless. I suppose the neighbourhood crowd is happy to have their Chinese restaurant back open. Admittedly, we should have g

Lai Ching Yuen, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur

You can't help but to be blown away by the sheer opulence of Grand Millennium Hotel as you step into their lobby. With the cascading chandelier, gigantic display of fresh flowers, the dark marble flooring and the gold water feature, you will be wowed. The food at its Chinese restaurant Lai Ching Yuen is no exception to its whole grandeur. The restaurant is decorated in a glamorous black and red oriental theme, and is one of the nicest Chinese restaurants I had the honour of p

Peach Blossoms, Marina Mandarin Hotel

Known for being one of the best high-end Chinese restaurants in Singapore, Peach Blossoms will definitely not disappoint, especially if you are looking for good Chinese cuisine. And since Chinese New Year is just around the corner (how time flies by so quickly!), we got to try their Lunar New Year menu for 2017, and it's definitely a winning bet if you are looking for a place for reunion dinner or family gathering this upcoming Chinese New Year.
