GinRikSha Lunch Menu, Bukit Damansara
One of our favourite Indian fusion places, GinRikSha, has just introduced their new lunch menu. So, of course we brought a few friends with us and reviewed a few of their dishes! All the lunch dishes comes with a free drink and the prices are very reasonably priced (all the dishes were not more than RM22), so you can eat well without breaking the bank! We first tried the soups, and boy were we impressed! The Lentil and Spinach Soup (RM15) was a revelation! We loved the thick

GinRikSha, Bukit Damansara
Since our first visit to GinRikSha, the place has undergone some light adjustments - to its decor and the food menu! We love the new colourful bicycle wheels, it certainly brightens up the ceilings and matches beautifully with the cheerful walls. The latest addition to the dining area is these three large mirrors too, completing the decor of this casual dining establishment. Since its opening, GinRikSha had only been open for dinner but they are now open for lunch too! This t

GinRikSha: the cocktail menu
GinRikSha has wowed us with their food but did you know that they also serve cocktails? The cocktails here are pretty reasonably priced - much more so than places like Omakase + Appreciate and Skullduggery. Of course, this isn't some "speakeasy" but ultimately, I have yet to try any cocktails in Malaysia that have really blown me away. Singapore's a different story. So if you're in the neighbourhood and you're looking for a place with good food and decently priced drinks, thi

GinRikSha, Bukit Damansara
Indian fusion food has been gaining popularity in recent times, what with porky Indian food and all... and now, there is GinRikSha's incredible spread of tantalising cuisine mixed with a cool, modern ambience right in the heart of Bukit Damansara. It's a pretty brave move to open so close to Aliyaa too, a neighbourhood favourite for Sri Lankan food just one row behind. But if it's one restaurant that can prove to be a decent contender, it would be GinRikSha. I love the cool i

Tiger Lily, Damansara City
We got to visit a brand spanking new Thai cafe in the almost-finished Damansara City Mall recently. The main floor of the mall itself, while still midway through opening up its stores, felt very modern and grand, with high-class restaurants gracing the upper balconies. The lower ground floor is a more relatable, comfortable atmosphere laced with affordable dining options. Tiger Lily was founded on the idea of providing affordable and healthy food with a different atmosphere,

Erawan, DC Mall
Erawan reopens in DC Mall, Damansara Heights. It's been a week since they've opened and already they're fully booked for dinner every night. I was familiar with the hype surrounding the place before they opened in DC Mall but never got around to trying it. So since DC Mall's just a stone's throw away from home, I decided to head there for dinner one evening with mother. I didn't realise that we would need reservations already, so we just strolled in. The waitstaff seemed relu

Torii, Batai Village
Torii is not your typical Japanese restaurant. It is got a little French twist to its Asian identity. The restaurant serves up a modern take on Japanese cuisine with dishes like Trifecta Mushi (a steamed duck egg custard with ikura, foie gras and shrimp), Tuna Poke (blue fin tuna, citrus concentrate, ponzu, mango and macadamia nuts) and Wagyu Sliders (homemade patty, spinach, caramalised onions and scones). But what was truly impressive was their newly launched premium Japane

Skullduggery, Bukit Damansara
Speakeasy bars have been popping up left right centre all around Kuala Lumpur. How true they are to what speakeasies were meant to be historically, that is up for debate. But they have provided plenty of new options for drinking and hanging out with friends. Skullduggery is one of Bukit Damansara's newest drinking spots. It's a little challenging to find the entrance because you will have to walk behind Huckleberry Food & Fare into the back alley to find it. But you shouldn't

Huckleberry After Dark, Damansara Heights
If you have ever been to Huckleberry in Damansara Heights, you would know that many people frequent the cafe in the mornings for a pick-me-up latte or their perfect French pastries (possibly the best you can find in Malaysia, because it is professionally prepared by French baker Christophe). The freshly baked bread commands queues and in the beginning, when Huckleberry had first opened, it was a hotspot for locals to head to for brunch. They were only opened till about 6PM in

Bandits, Bukit Damansara
My first visit to Bandits was when it first opened its doors a couple of years back (I can't recall exactly when...) and it was apparently under a different management (or so I am told). So, when KL Food Hunter's Daniel Ang invited me to try the new Bandits menu with him one weekday afternoon, I was eager to see what it had to offer. The first visit I had there left me rather disappointed but this time, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the new management had introduced

Raisin' the Roof, Bukit Damansara
Vegetarian or vegan food is always off-putting to huge carnivorous eaters (like a certain co-founder of this website). But personally, I believe if it's done well, any cuisine can taste good. And Raisin' the Roof's tag line: "making nutritious delicious", cannot be more accurate. They take the simplest and freshest ingredients and turn it into a delicious combination, perfect for a healthy lunch. They've also got plenty of healthy take away snacks. My first experience with Ra

Review: Wicked Pancake Parlour, Bukit Damansara
I love pancakes. There's just something about these fluffy, airy pounds of flour that excites my tastebuds. Been meaning to try Wicked Pancake Parlour for a while now but I've been putting it off to accommodate my "diet". So I decided to actually roll out of bed on a Sunday afternoon to try this Oz-themed pancake parlour. (I wish they would play the Wicked soundtrack, that would be awesome!) "We are led by those who help us most to grow..." From the Wicked soundtrack. Grow fa

Review: Bandits Coffee Bar, Bukit Damansara
It is yet another new cafe in my neighbourhood which is refreshing after seeing the same old places year after year. However, Bandits Coffee Bar might be a little hard to spot since there is no signage to indicate its exact location. Perhaps it is a play on their name? But since I am rather familiar to the area, it wasn't too hard to find. Parking, on the other hand, can be quite a pain. Best not to park by the roadside on weekdays as police often patrol the area to freely ha

Review: Yellow Brick Road, Batai Village
I have to admit I was pretty bummed when they closed the shops around Hock Lee. I grew up enjoying the only hawker food around my area. So when they shut down not one but both the coffee shops at Jalan Batai, I was quite upset. But I guess Yellow Brick Road kind of makes up for it. Of course, its name is a reference to The Wizard of Oz. So is the Wicked Pancake Parlour, located upstairs from it. (About to watch Wicked in New York soon!!!) Coffee and cakes? Yes, please! Priced
