New menu @ Sun with Moon Japanese Dining & Cafe, Wheelock Place

In conjunction with their 14th anniversary in Singapore, acclaimed Japanese restaurant Sun with Moon is introducing brand new dishes to their menu with a fresh twist on some classic favourites. It has only been a few months since our last visit to Sun and Moon, but we were excited to try the latest additions to the restaurant. We started with a serving of Kaisen Yukke ($13.80) with crunchy seaweed on the side. Freshly-diced salmon, tuna and yellowtail sashimi tossed in a rich ambrosial spicy soy sauce and an irresistible onsen tamago for added creaminess. Up next was the Aburi Hotate Paradise Roll ($23.80 for 8 pieces), a delightful mix of flamed seared scallops, crunchy sweet asparagus and

Ho Fook Hei, Great World City

Why travel to Hong Kong when you can have your favourite Cantonese dishes in Singapore? Ho Fook Hei is one such classic home-styled Cantonese restaurant that takes pride in preparing their dishes the traditional, authentic Cantonese way. It's hard to resist an ice-cold drink to quench your thirst. You could go for the herbal cooling Homemade Chilled Dried Longan Drink with Luo Han Guo ($3.50++) to alleviate the “heatiness” that Cantonese dishes usually have. Or, try the Signature Homemade Red Apple and Hawthorne Drink ($3.50++), which has slight sour tinge that brings back childhood memories of Hawthorne flakes. We were treated to a platter of Pork and Prawn Rolls “Hae Zor” ($7.80++) to star

Jam at Siri House, Dempsey

Here’s a new spot to check out in Dempsey – Jam at Siri House. The perfect place to “hide” away from the crowd, Jam is located all the way at the back end of Dempsey, as part of Siri House, and surrounded by lush greens. Before I go on about the food here, it’s interesting to note that Jam at Siri House is a partnership project with Thai luxury property developer, Sansiri. The restaurant is the brainchild of Lolla Head Chef and current co-owner of Park Bench Deli, Ming Tan with Jeremy Cheok, previously from New Ubin Seafood. And Sunday Punch’s Mark Tay and Yap Hwee Jen complete the team ascreative forces behind the restaurant’s stellar bar programme. In essence, Jam at Siri House is a creati

Tree Howf Staycation, Craighead Farm, Dunblane

All you staycationers out there, take note — I’m lucky to have found another spot for glamping in Scotland, and it's possibly my most favourite of all time! The Tree Howf, located in the humble Craighead Farm near Dunblane, Perthshire, is a gorgeous timber house built around the branches of an existing tree. Settled atop a hill on the farm, step inside for a 360º panoramic view of the beautiful Ochil Hills of Stirling. Plus, you'll meet some of the cutest animals — think donkeys, highland cows, rams, pigmy goats, turkeys, geese, guinea fowls, hens and a friendly neighbourhood litter of fluffy cats. The Tree Howf itself is a work of art, built by the owners of the farm who worked as joiners p

Kushikatsu Tanaka, Clarke Quay

Clarke Quay’s Kushikatsu Tanaka (串カツ田中) is actually part of a popular Japanese chain of restaurants. It’s most famous for its Osaka-style kushikatsu deep fried cutlet skewers and signature special dipping sauce. What makes Kushikatsu Tanaka stand out is the secret family recipe — a unique blend of oil with beef fats is used to fry their kushikatsu coated in finely ground panko (Japanese style bread crumbs). The panko flour, batter and sauces are sourced from Japan, which means you’re getting the original Kushikatsu Tanaka experience — complete with Japanese lingo and Japanese expats in the Clarke Quay outlet. The chain is currently highlighting it’s new Mega Cheese Festival promo, introducin

Bar Cicheti, Keong Saik

Spring is here! Although you can’t feel it in Singapore’s year-round sunny weather, you’d get the chance to taste it. Bar Cicheti is introducing a spring menu that pays homage to the sweet and hearty harvests of Italy. The new menu is created as a tribute to the love for spring in Italy of all three partners of Bar Cicheti -- restaurateur Liling Ong, chef Lim Yew Aun and sommelier Ronald Kamiyama. As Singapore’s first homegrown pasta and wine bar, I came expecting handmade pasta with authentic Italian flavours and a huge array of wine to pair with every dish. Luckily, I believe that Bar Cicheti lived up to its name and reputation, serving up one of the best pastas I’ve had in Singapore. I’ll
