Tapas Club @ Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur

Having opened two successful branches in Singapore and Indonesia, Tapas Club has opened it's third outlet right here in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Now there's no need of a hassle to travel all the way to Spain to savour classic Spanish flavours as the people behind Tapas Club has brought the whole experience to Malaysia. Even more so with having two world acclaimed Spanish chefs, Chef Alonso and Chef Berganza to cook up a storm for you fellow tapas enthusiast. Chef Berganza also happens to be the first Spanish chef in the United States to receive a Michelin star rating through Andananda in New York. The food these chefs crafted is definitely made just as how a traditional Spaniard would have

Goldleaf Restaurant, Singapore

Tucked away in the east sits an old-school Taiwanese restaurant serving traditional Taiwanese favourites. Goldleaf Restaurant was founded in 1971 and has opened its doors in my favourite neighbourhood, one where I have always called home, Katong. To celebrate the restaurant's 47th anniversary, Goldleaf has unveiled brand-new dishes as well as brought back some of its classics. Famed as the first restaurant to offer Taiwanese porridge in Singapore, I had very high expectations for Goldleaf. First up was the Ah Ma's Tri-Platter ($10.80), this trio consisting of bean curd sticks and peanuts soaked in bean marinade served along with fried minced meat with olives immediately evoked nostalgia. The

Dim Sum and Wine Pairing @ Royal Canton

Dim sum and wine may not be first thing that comes to your mind when you think of wine pairings, but let me tell you, it works. Royal Canton and Delia Wines made this harmonious match happen, and it was a truly indulgent experience. Who knew French wines tasted so good with Chinese cuisine?! Every first Sunday of the month, Royal Canton will play host to an indulgent dim sum brunch paired with spectacular premium French wines priced at RM168++ per pax, from 11.30am to 3pm. Seats are limited, so be sure to make reservations in advance. Our first dish was a plate of two different prawn dumplings, the Prawn Spinach Dumpling and the Salad Prawn Dumpling. It was paired with Domaine des Poncetys -

Sun with Moon Japanese Dining & Cafe, Wheelock Place

When I saw Sun with Moon, I wondered if Drogo and Daenerys (from Game of Thrones, of course) had started a restaurant. My thoughts: This would be what they name it. Sun with Moon Japanese Dining & Cafe has absolutely nothing to do with Game of Thrones but I hope that I’ve got your attention now. Sun with Moon's revamped 2018 grand menu features brand new dishes and new spins on some of their popular dishes, continuing to entice diners with a mix of traditional and modern Japanese food. Here are some of the new and revamped dishes to look out for. Zensai Mori ($16.80) starts us off with a platter of 7 unique appetisers. There're the delicious staples like a mini grilled tuna steak and prawn s

Zafferano @ Level 43, Ocean Financial Centre

Located on the 43rd floor of the Ocean Financial Center with a breathtaking view of Marina Bay Skyline, Zafferano is the highest rooftop Italian Restaurant and Bar in Singapore. This was taken just as the sun was setting, a beautiful view of the city from the terrace. The outdoor area is a great spot for friends to get together to chill and unwind from the busy week, while sipping on cocktails and taking in this breathtaking view. The name of the restaurant is inspired by the prized value of saffron and the flower contains 3 stigmas called threads, which inspired the restaurant's three foundation blocks -- Food, Service and Ambiance. The dining areas comprise the main dining room, the terrac

Pork-Free Dim Sum @ Oriental, Pullman Bangsar

Pullman Hotel's Oriental Chinese Cuisine restaurant serves up classic dim sum dishes with a twist. The dim sum "classics" such as rice rolls, glutinous rice, buns and dumplings are somehow escalated here at Oriental. Oriental has added a breath of fresh air into their new dim sum menu with up to 50 fine crafted dim sum delicacies joining their ala carte menu. Dim sum chef Ng Meng Loong is able to showcase his creativity and originality by transforming the dishes into delicious works of art. Ng transform the favourite glutinous rice dish (lou mai kai) into a vibrant blue, with the colouring from butterfly pea flowers that is commonly used in Nyonya dishes. The dish is topped with succulent ch

Afternoon Tea at Shangri-La Lobby Lounge

There are days when I’m feeling for an afternoon snack and I want to glam it up and enjoy my afternoon at somewhere nice and sophisticated. But most high-teas in hotels come with a hefty price tag, which is enough to make me run the other way. Shangri-La, famed for hosting a “special event” for the Kim-Trump Summit, is bringing you an affordable high-tea set for 2 at just $38++ on weekdays and $42++ on weekends at its Lobby Lounge. This tea set, unlike any other, features a wide selection of local favourites that will leave you spoiled for choice. Before the tier of goodies arrived, we were served some pork satay with peanut sauce. The interesting thing about this is that the peanut sauce ha

Otaru Suisan, Bugis+

A new shabu-shabu joint popped up in Bugis+ and it has just unveiled its brand-new 90-minute shabu-shabu buffet promotion from $17.80 onwards (for adults)! Diners will be spoilt for choice here with their unique Japanese and Asian-inspires soup bases at affordable prices. We loved the Rich Tonktosu soup base, but this is just one of the eight different soup bases Otaru Suisan has to offer. The rest of the soup bases include the two new soups, Setouchi Lemon and Sapporo Curry, as well as the Spicy Miso, Asakusa Sukiyaki, Hokkaido Kombu, Tom Yam and Herbal Chicken. Sens Singapore, Holland Village

There's something about Japanese food that sparks a light in me. It is certainly one of my all-time comfort foods. And Sens is a hidden gem that's tucked away in 'Taste' Supermarket, where the fish and meat producers supply fresh food to the restaurant daily. This is an open kitchen concept with very basic fixtures and fittings, a casual dining space that is available for shoppers to either have a snack or a full meal while shopping the groceries. Sens has just introduced a few new items on their menu and I was really excited to dive into the food. First, we had the Kajiki Tataki ($12) served in a cocktail glass that features a swordfish (mekajiki) with zesty flavours garnished with seaweed.

Salted Egg Buffet at The Square, Novotel Clarke Quay

As someone who has been living in Singapore for many years, I have seen how food trends here make it and break it. But one food trend has yet (and doesn’t seem even close) to see its curtains close – the salted egg. Hence, many have dubbed salted egg (dishes) a “local delicacy”. And with Singapore’s National Day coming up, Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay’s The Square Restaurant is going for the gold and presenting its first ever Salted Egg Buffet. From now till 30 August 2018, go mad dipping skewers of food into their Golden Velvet Salted Egg Fountain. Yes, that’s right, a fountain sprouting salted egg sauce. Here are some of the skewered food you can dip into all that salted egg goodness. We

Paus, Taman Tun Dr Ismail

If you are a beer-lover, you would swoon at the selection of craft beers Paus stocks. It is literally like beer heaven! Paus is whale in Malay, and a craft beer whale is a trophy beer that is exceptional in taste and very limited in quality. That is Paus' goal - they are driven to search for the best beer they can find to serve to customers, and they are also on the hunt unique and rare beers that you will not see anywhere else in Malaysia. But man oh man, Paus by far has the largest craft beer selection I've seen in Malaysia. Ale, stout, lager, pilsner, pale ale, wheat beer, ginger beer, cider - you name it, they have it! With more than a hundred different types of beer from more than 20 co

Chengdu, Amoy Street

Say hello to the latest Sichuan joint in town – Chengdu Restaurant! Located at the where several awesome food places are in the Telok Ayer area, Chengdu is introducing some of their quirky dishes that are sure to make you go “wow”! To start, we tried the Chilli Beef with Sweet Corn Base ($24.80). When it first came, I couldn’t image that corn was turned into something so crispy. The corn base was super crunchy and went well with the tender beef. The Pork Belly in Garlic ($12.80) may look simple, but it was amazing. I liked how every dish that came was plated very beautifully and made everything that much more appetising. This one in particular, reminded me of clothes hanging on a clothes lin

Tempo Tea Bar New Menu Launch Party, Glasgow

In celebration of this amazing summer and the rare occasion of the glorious sun shining over Glasgow for more than a month now, I wanted to share some exciting news with you about what Tempo Tea Bar and owner, May Gem, has in store for the future of Scotland's favourite bubble tea franchise! Recently, Tempo Tea Bar hosted a Menu Launch/Taste Test Party at the Strathclyde Student Union in conjunction with a fun K-pop dance party. While listening to the latest summer K-Pop hits, I chowed down on what looked like potential food items to be added into a brand new Tempo Menu. They've already revamped their Bubble Tea selections to make it more focused on the brewing of tea, with combinations of m

Be it breakfast, lunch, dinner or even supper, this lively neighbourhood is filled with famous restaurants serving both local and international delicacies. We had the privilege to try out their new and improved menu. Now even more so with a new face lift, The Good batch is a definite insta-worthy place to catch up with your friends and family, while enjoying a hearty yet comforting meal. This time, we had a cheesy sta

Ms Read Activewear Launch + Zumba Party

In line with the body positive movement, Ms Read has launched its second collection of activewear! The collection sizes start from UK12, and caters to all curvy women out there. As someone who is neither plus size nor petite, it’s often hard for me to find activewear. But thankfully, Ms Read’s smallest size fit me perfectly. The designs are bright, colourful and offer plenty of support. The material is sweat wicking too! What a bonus. We attended the launch, which was led by an introduction to the collection and followed by a super fun Zumba class at Celebrity Fitness, Lot 10. And we ended the day with a meal by Go Clean (which counts the calories for you and you can enjoy your guilt-free me

Twenty Eight Cafe @ 28 Wilkie Road

On a late Saturday afternoon, we wandered up the streets to this old heritage building tucked on the corner of the road leading up a to a hill. There it was, a minimalistic laid back cafe located in a heritage building. The open space and high ceilings with simple light fittings gives off a restrained industrial vibe and it makes you feel right at home. There is a common table in the middle of the cafe and some greenery that gives a fresh tropical look to the place. One of the plus points of this dining space is that almost every table has a power plug point, which encourages diners to bring in their laptops to study, have small meetings or discussions among university students and young wor

Chachara, Seminyak Bali

When you visit Bali, you don't expect to eat Spanish food and have it be the best damn Spanish meal you've ever had in your life. But that's exactly what happened when we visited Chachara in Seminyak. First of all, I just have to say, I am so impressed with all the effort gone into turning Chachara into the perfect little hidden chill out spot right in the heart of Seminyak. I love the interior and the way they have done up the place. We chose to sit outdoors, facing the cute combi van, under the twinkly fairy lights. It's such a romantic atmosphere. It's a great place for a casual date and we're sure your date would be so impressed with the food here. Not only that, you might also get a lit

TIIGO, 24-Hour Restaurant In Seminyak

One of my favourite things about staying at Montigo Resort, Seminyak Bali, is that right on the property is TIIGO, a 24-hour food establishment. Yup, that’s right. 24 hours, 7 days a week, you get to enjoy the food here at TIIGO. And we experienced odd hour dining on two separate occasions here. Once was having breakfast at 6AM before going off for our dives. The second experience was a dinner set menu at 9PM. This was one of my best meals in Bali and most certainly the best meal I have ever had in a hotel, worldwide, hands down. The chef started us off with a Montigo Martini (which is their take on a seafood bisque). We were so impressed by this dish. From its presentation to its flavours.
