Birds of a Feather, Amoy Street

Telok Ayer area has become one of Singapore's latest trendy F&B spot with the coolest restaurant and trendiest bars. Plus, it's around where I work, so it only makes sense for me to be gallivanting around the area to scout for the next best spot to head after a long day at work. Just a few rows behind my office is Amoy Street, where Birds of a Feather is located. This chic restaurant caught my attention from afar and I just had to try it. Stepping inside, I was quite amazed by the restaurant's beautiful decorations spotting a theme that shouts "flying sky high" with cloud-shaped lamps and indoor plants with nests to give the illusion that you're dining on top of a tree. With the warm lightin

Hararu Izakaya, Bussorah St

Izakayas in Japan are known as a casual hangout spot to go to after work for some food and drinks, which means they usually serve alcohol along with their tapas-styled food. However, in Hararu Izakaya, you'll still be able to enjoy that "tatami bar" setting with your family and friends, halal style! The restaurant is nicely decorated to bring out as much of the Japanese "feel" into your dining experience. One of my favourite thing about this place is the fanciful artwork all around the restaurant. I especially loved this painting of a geisha in the private booth area right next to the bar. I would recommend you to call up and make a booking in advance if you would like to be seated here. Min

Ginza Rokukakutei, Odeon Towers

Rokukakutei's Osaka outlet was awarded one Michelin star back in 2009 and now it has opened up an outlet in Singapore! Located in Odeon Towers, this outlet is helmed by Chef Hideyuki Tanaka who will offer patrons kushikatsu Omakase-style. Kushikatsu are battered and deep-fried skewers of meat, seafood and vegetables, regarded as one of Osaka's soul foods. Right here at Ginza Rokukakutei, trust Chef Hideyuki to only use the best of the best ingredients he can find, most of which are imported straight from Japan. There are two menus to choose from here: 1. Omakase Skewers and Kushiage + Selected Wines Marriage ($134++) Featuring: 20 skewers, veggie bowl, homemade pickles, fruit agar gelatin an

The Bird Southern Table and Bar, Marina Bay Sands

We were recently in Singapore for the Marina Bay Sands Epicurean Market 2017 but we also had the opportunity to try some of the restaurants in Marina Bay Sands, like The Bird Southern Table and Bar. If it's one thing about Southern food that I absolutely love, is its comfort factor. Every time I have dined at a Southern cuisine establishment, I have always felt at home. The experience I had at The Bird was no different. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a lettuce and mango salad as well as a fried green tomato BLT. The mango salad was surprisingly refreshing and sweet, while many of us dining agreed that the BLT was amazing. I did not expect the BLT to pack the punch it did. For starters, w

Wanderlust Hotel, Singapore

I don't know about you, but I like to pamper myself every once in a while with a nice staycation. This time, I was just done with my busy period at work and decided that a much deserved stay away from home was in order. I ended up booking a Mono Deluxe room ($450++ per night) over at Wanderlust hotel in Little India area. I stepped in the lobby and was greeted with mismatched furniture at the waiting lounge area and a foosball table for people to play while waiting to check in (or for men to entertain themselves while waiting for their partners to get ready). Just ahead the waiting area is this beautiful bar. And just behind it, is Audace -- a restaurant located inside of Wanderlust. I swear

How to get to Ko Lipe & where to stay: Bundhaya Villas

Ko Lipe is one of those highly underrated islands in Thailand. Mostly because it is still so quiet, some tourists may think that there isn't much to do here. But Ko Lipe was actually one of my favourite holidays to date. We flew into Langkawi and because it was low season (June/July), we had to take one of the chartered ferries. Bundhaya Villas, the gorgeous villa resort we stayed at for our trip arranged the return tickets for the ferry. During low season, the timing for the ferry is fixed. There is only one going trip at 9:30AM and it is a little tricky to find the meet up spot! You will need to enter the jetty area and find a staircase (near the camera/electronics shop) to go up to the fi

Che Nyonya @ The Pine Cafe, Glenmarie Golf & Country Club

What I love the most about living in Malaysia is that we have a rich culture in our food history dating back to the 15th century where the Peranakan Cuisine or some may call it Baba Nyonya was birthed. This intricate cuisine is a mix of various cultures, which include Dutch, Portugese, Malay and Chinese. Being passionate about food history and how it has evolved, we were excited to indulge in some of these dishes at Che Nyonya, The Pine Cafe tucked away from the hustle of the KL city life. We started off with the traditional Nyonya Curry Laksa (RM13.90). Personally, this was a stand out dish for us as the broth of this laksa had so much depth in flavour with the combination of the other ingr

What to do in Langkawi: Upsidow House & Food Court

You know when you were younger, you would always enjoy holidays that involved going to some kind of attraction and spending the day there, going on fun rides and taking photos? I think for some parts of my teenagehood, during the darkest days of rebellion, I rejected the idea of going anywhere that involved taking any photos. But as time went on and I entered adulthood, I missed that part of childhood that allowed me to release my inhibitions and just... have fun. I was reminded of that when I went to Langkawi this year. I stayed at Tubotel, a colourful repurposed drain pipe hotel. It brought out my colourful side. Then, I visited the Upsidow House, which totally unleashed my inner child. Th

Audace @ Wanderlust Hotel, Little India

Being relatively new to Singapore, the rather Petaling Jaya-esque feel of Little India surprised me. I haven't been to the area before, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect in terms of the food ahead of me. Amidst all the colour, I almost missed the giant 'WANDERLUST' sign. With a monochromatic exterior and a little pop of patterned trims, I was a little unsure as to what I would find inside this boutique hotel that seemed to emerge from nowhere. Imagine my surprise when I was greeted with a mesh of modern industrial and hipster antique upon entering the doors, a combination that was incredibly aesthetically pleasing. Straight ahead, past the unobtrusive check-in desk was the restaurant Aud

Tapaz, Langkawi

Before I start the full review of this place, I have two words for you: BEER ATM. Yes, that's right, the owner of Tapaz is planning on installing a beer ATM soon next door to Tapaz. Okay, let's get right into it now. The first time I visited Tapaz was about three years ago, I believe. It was when I visited Langkawi with my friends and also stayed at Tubotel. The owner, Alex Mark, invited us for a meal at Tapaz and it was a meal I couldn't forget for years. So when we we told him we were coming back to Langkawi as the foodievstheworld team this year, he, of course, insisted we enjoy a meal again at Tapaz. Tapaz is newly renovated and because Alex is so hands on with everything he does, he eve

Most of you have probably heard of Ramen Champion in Bugis+, but did you know that they opened up a new joint over at Central in Clarke Quay? The best part is, this new place boasts a sit down restaurant concept. So, unlike the Bugis+ outlet, you won't have to get up to place your order. A big yeay for clumsy people like me, so I won't end up spilling my bowl of piping hot ramen all over myself while bringing it to my table. All the popular Japanese ramen brands will also be available to you in this new outlet and of course more! Upperhouse Kitchen and Dessert Bar, Bangsar

It's no secret that I have a bit of a sweet tooth, and Upperhouse Kitchen and Dessert Bar certainly satisfies my sugary cravings. As you walk up the stairs to (the very aptly named) Upperhouse, you are greeted by a large open space with lots of natural sunlight. There's art on the walls and a play corner for kids, it just radiates cheer! Mirroring the vibe of the space, Upperhouse's desserts is simply happiness on a plate. I am a chocolate lover, so it is no surprise that my favourite dessert at Upperhouse was Textures of Chocolate (RM25). I love this dessert because you can taste the richness of chocolate in different textures with crunchy honeycomb and toasted rice. The burnt honey ice cre

Sizzle at Pepper Lunch, Perth

A sassy signage outside Japanese fast food grill, Pepper Lunch hinting cheekily to customers of the fun they were about to experience was displayed. I for one have never cooked my own food, besides maybe the occasional steamboat. So, I was pretty excited to see how clumsy I would be handling a grill. The outlet was pretty much empty on a Sunday afternoon, allowing us to selfishly select a cosy eight-seater couch to fit four of us. Just like a regular fast food outlet, we were told to order at the counter. Service was good, but I thought that lady at the counter could have smiled a little more. However, we did get our onion rings and potato wedges shortly after. When it arrived, everyone was

Juiceee Malaysia @ The Starling Mall, Damansara Utama

Staying healthy in a city that has so much delicious food to offer can be a challenge. We had the privilege of meeting Ryan Ling who is the Founder and Director Of Juiceee Malaysia, which is a homegrown juice brand established in 2014. He came up with the idea of producing and serving healthy juices, while making the product affordable so that consumers are able to invest into a health conscious lifestyle. We were invited to the Starling Mall which just opened a month ago which is the 16th Juiceee outlet across the country. Ryan and his team just launched a whole new range of milky treats and we got to taste some of them. We started off with Dewy Deal (RM10.50), which is a milk based slushie
