foodpanda launches the first ever ‘panda retreat’

One of Singapore's leading food delivery service, foodpanda, has announced the launch of a new wellness retreat called 'The Pandanctuary™'. Looking for a de-stressing retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city? The Pandanctuary™ will let you experience what it's like living like a panda for the weekend. The retreat has been created by foodpanda following research in the UK that estimates over 10,000 people who enjoy dressing up as animals to escape from the pressures of modern living. I guess that's where the whole animal onesie trend started! The food delivery company has subsequently identified the benefits of dressing up as a panda, an animal that is renowned for its leisurely be

Emerson's Brewery Dunedin, Dunedin New Zealand

Don’t let the red brick exterior and tall windows fool you into thinking that it’s a fire station. In fact this sleek minimalistic exterior shell houses a successful local brewery. Not only that, there is also a restaurant, and of course, bar inside too. Upon entering the premises, large glass windows provide a preview to the inner mechanics of the brewery, showing off a labyrinth of interconnecting pipes and silos. And if this is not enough to satisfy your curiosity about the makings of beer, Emerson’s open their cellar door to the public 10am – 6pm daily, and until 8pm Thursday to Saturday. Taste testing is even encouraged! The industrial theme is continued in the open-plan restaurant. The

Buang Bayi - Behind the Baby Hatch

Did you know that in 2015 alone 104 babies were dumped in Malaysia? Half of them were found dead. "Buang Bayi" or literally translated to "throw away baby" is the term used in Malaysia when a baby is dumped. This is a serious problem and a huge contrast to Singapore, where zero babies were dumped in 2015. Most people are not even aware this problem exists. Breaking away from our typical food reviews and happy-go-lucky stuff, we want to highlight this issue that was brought to our attention through a documentary we found on Indiegogo. We go behind the scenes to interview Corine Tiah of Hatched Films, the director behind the documentary "Buang Bayi - Behind the Baby Hatch". Here is our intervi

Sapore, Persiaran Ampang

Anyone who knows me well would tell you that I love Italian food. So of course I jumped at the opportunity to review one of Ampang’s most authentic Italian Spanish restaurant, Sapore. The thing I love most about Italian cooking is the fresh and vibrant flavours that showcases the beautiful ingredients used in cooking the dish, and Chef Fabio Ruggiero does just that. Chef Fabio is the man behind the restaurant, hailing from Italy’s Puglia region, he has worked in several 5-star hotels and some of the best restaurants worldwide before he decided to open his own restaurant here in Kuala Lumpur. Located next door to La Risata, Sapore certainly gives the popular Italian chain a run for its money.

Nami Island in Winter: the best time to visit Seoul

If you're heading to Seoul during the winter, on top of the typical shopping and food hunting you will enjoy in the freezing cold, something you can look forward to is a visit to beautiful Nami Island. Many head to the Nami Island in winter for photo ops with the Winter Sonata sculptures and if you're visiting in autumn, the foliage is a stunning landscape to enjoy. But winter is gorgeous in a whole other way. Also, because you will have to queue up to get onto the ferry to cross over to the island, the queues are not that bad in the winter compared to other seasons. If you're crazy enough, you could zipline across and it would save you time. The ferry ride takes about 8 minutes while the zi

Ratbags and Innocent Bystander, Dunedin New Zealand

Ratbags and Innocent Bystander is a joint establishment located in the heart of the Dunedin city. Downstairs, Ratbags has the perfect bar environment, while upstairs, Innocent Bystander is set up as a casual dine-in restaurant. Their famously known meter and half-meter long pizzas is what brought us here today. We were seated upstairs, where their dining space is easily transformable to accommodate bigger groups of 10-20 individuals. If you fancy braving the Dunedin night, there's a sheltered outdoor seating available too. But tonight, we thought it was best (and wise) to cozy up inside next to the fire. Although famous for their meter ($50) and half-meter long ($26) pizzas, recommended for

The Humble Pie, PJ

I love desserts and often find myself craving something sweet. One day, I was just craving for a good banoffee pie. And everywhere I asked I was pointed towards The Humble Pie, so I had to go down and try it out for myself. I found out they served savoury dishes too and went there for dinner. For starters, I had the Japanese potato salad (RM10). I thought it was pretty good and they had onions and Japanese cucumbers in it, giving the dish a tangy crunch. Then for the main course, I decided on the cottage pie (RM15). Slow oven-roasted topside beef with onions and vegetables topped with buttery mashed potatoes with cheddar cheese. It came with a side of Waldorf salad and garlic bread. I rememb

GinRikSha, Bukit Damansara

Since our first visit to GinRikSha, the place has undergone some light adjustments - to its decor and the food menu! We love the new colourful bicycle wheels, it certainly brightens up the ceilings and matches beautifully with the cheerful walls. The latest addition to the dining area is these three large mirrors too, completing the decor of this casual dining establishment. Since its opening, GinRikSha had only been open for dinner but they are now open for lunch too! This time round, we decided to have some heavy dishes before tasting their cocktails. The lamb shank and biryani rice is something that I would recommend to try if you're looking for a heavy main to indulge in. The lamb is so

GinRikSha: the cocktail menu

GinRikSha has wowed us with their food but did you know that they also serve cocktails? The cocktails here are pretty reasonably priced - much more so than places like Omakase + Appreciate and Skullduggery. Of course, this isn't some "speakeasy" but ultimately, I have yet to try any cocktails in Malaysia that have really blown me away. Singapore's a different story. So if you're in the neighbourhood and you're looking for a place with good food and decently priced drinks, this should be your go-to spot. Start off with something refreshing like the Zombie (yes, I am aware of the irony). Don't be fooled by the name - this drink actually perks you up rather than drags you down. The Zombie (RM33

Crab Hut, Shaftsbury Square Cyberjaya

The last time we had a seafood feast wasn't too long ago and we went to the Crab Factory in SS2 - the sister outlet to Crab Hut. This time, though, our experience was slightly different because the Crab Hut outlet is halal and located in Cyberjaya. The layout and design out the two outlets are very similar to each other with clean aesthetics and chalkboard menus. However, the outlet here at Shaftsbury Square is a little dimmer than the Crab Factory, which gives it a nice intimate setting, especially for dinner. This time round, we got to try a range of mud crabs and of their specialties - the Big Bang Theory. We started off with some seafood mix with a lemak sauce and my gosh, this is hands
